Taberna Londrina Porto, Foz — Restaurant in Porto

Came here with two young children a few weeks ago. We were seated promptly & ordered not too long after that. Our order wasn’t that complicated- two sparking waters, a still water for my toddler, & two burgers. We waited for about 15 minutes, no drinks. The manager then came back, about 20 minutes since we’d ordered to say the order hadn’t gone through. So he took it again. And got slightly annoyed when I repeated the order to make sure he’d got it this time. I asked for our drinks & he said he’d bring them. We watched as other tables who came after us ordered, got their jugs of sangria & their food while we sat there trying to entertain a toddler and a baby who were losing patience (probably because they were hungry!). I asked again for our water, this is about 40 minutes since we’d sat down, the manager said yes it’s coming, then proceeded to take another jug of sangria to a table that had come after us, then chatted to them for awhile while we sat there, being ignored. To not bring a child water while you serve others alcohol (people who had come after us as well!) is an absolute disgrace. After another few minutes when it was obvious they didn’t care about our business, we got up and left. It was a complete waste of almost an hour, & it was a downer on what had been a lovely day. I’m at Taberna Londrina to try their francesinha, and while it was a decent dish overall, there were some notable aspects that stood out—both good and bad.

The beef was well-prepared and flavorful, and the presentation was inviting. However, the sauce left much to be desired. It has a strong, acidic quality that lingers unpleasantly as an aftertaste. This element detracts from the experience, especially when compared to the balanced sauces at places like Taverna Belga or Camada. The tomato base is prominent but could benefit from more refinement to smooth out that sharp tang.

The choice of bread is also unconventional—they only use one slice of commercial white bread on top, with none below. While not a dealbreaker, it feels less traditional and might not appeal to purists.

The fries were okay but not particularly memorable—they arrived slightly warm rather than hot and crispy, which was a letdown.

All in all, while the francesinha at Taberna Londrina is acceptable, it doesn’t quite hit the mark for me, especially when there are better options available in town. A bit of tweaking to the sauce and some attention to the side dishes could elevate...

Reservámos mesa e mesmo assim tivemos de esperar cerca de 40 minutos porque o restaurante estava cheio. Quando finalmente nos sentámos, pedimos 3 francesinhas e 3 doses de batatas. Logo de início, reparamos que um dos copos estava sujo, parecia acabado de ser usado, e tivemos de pedir para trocar.

As batatas vieram primeiro apenas para duas pessoas. Passados 5 minutos chegaram 2 francesinhas e 1 cachorro ou seja, o pedido veio errado. Chamámos o empregado, que levou os pratos para dentro, e só depois de mais 10 minutos é que chegaram as 3 francesinhas. Ainda assim, continuava a faltar uma dose de batatas. Quando avisei a funcionária, esta respondeu de forma pouco simpática, insinuando que tínhamos pedido apenas duas doses. Após alguma insistência, trouxe finalmente as batatas, demorando mais 5 minutos.

Quanto à comida: • Francesinha – boa de sabor, mas com pouco molho, o que desilude. • Sobremesa – pedi um semi-frio de Lotus, mas quando chegou tinha um aspeto estranho. Para piorar, a colher que me foi dada não estava lavada e parecia ter sido usada para uma mousse de Oreo. Pedi que retirassem a sobremesa e o talher e optei por não pedir mais nada.

A reação dos funcionários foi praticamente inexistente, ninguém se mostrou preocupado, apenas o senhor que nos recebeu deu a entender algum desconforto pela situação. No final, ao efetuar o pagamento, ainda ouvimos uma funcionária comentar com outra que a cobertura da sobremesa estava estragada e tinha de ir para o lixo.

A Taberna Londrina tem, sem dúvida, uma das melhores francesinhas na minha opinião, mas infelizmente o serviço é péssimo. O atendimento foi desorganizado, pouco profissional e sem qualquer cuidado de higiene. É triste ver que, mais uma vez, o problema não está na cozinha (se tem algum problema não conseguimos ver) mas sim no despreparo dos funcionários e na falta de atenção a algo tão básico como o contacto direto com o público.
