Came across this park by chance. Took the old tram from the city center to the end of the river/beach. Most people didn't even walk through but rather walked along the boulevard next to the river, which is a shame because this park is very beautiful. Very aesthetically pleasing with vibrantly colored flowers and fountains. There is more than enough seating and lots of places to dispose of trash. It is kept very clean and tidy. There's public toilets for men and women in a yellow and purple building in the middle of the park. The toilet has a sign saying it's 0,20 Euro cents but there was no one there when I went. The same building also has information folders about the park which is really nice, and there's also a historical toilet and washbasin that is protected behind glass. Even the toilets were made in the blue tile style, very cool.

It is an amazing public garden. Great sunset views. Jog/Running track along the sea. It is a great place to take a peaceful stroll away from the crowded city centre. You can also see the historic tram that runs between the historic centre of Porto and the garden of Passeio Alegre on a single path along the banks of the River Douro.

È un bel giardino in cui sono andata purtroppo in una giornata dal tempo variabile, con brevi ma continui scrosci di pioggia. Col bel tempo sicuramente lo si può apprezzare di più. L'ho raggiunto col tram 1 con l'obiettivo principale di vedere l'oceano, seguendo un bel percorso lungo le rive del fiume Douro. Poi, una volta scesi, io e mio marito abbiamo potuto fare una lunga passeggiata fino al Faro di Porto al Foz. Seduti su un muretto, abbiamo potuto ascoltare il rumore delle onde, ammirare la distesa dell'acqua limpida e respirare l'aria dell'oceano. Nonostante la pioggia, non abbiamo rinunciato a camminare sul suggestivo lungomare, sul quale si affacciano bar e ristoranti e a fermarci a bere prima un caffè e poi a pranzare. È un'escursione che consiglio. La fermata del tram 1 è posta davanti alla Chiesa di San Francesco e c'è una corsa ogni venti minuti. Con molto meno di dieci euro (non ricordo di preciso la tariffa) si paga il biglietto per l'andata e il ritorno.

Jardim Do Passeio is meeting place of the Rio Douro river and the Atlantic ocean. One can see furious waves here! Apart from the edgey lighthouses, there is beautiful garden and a mini golf course as well(which is mostly crowded at all times). There aren't many places to eat here but it's always good to carry some snacks 😉

Este jardim público com carácter essencialmente romântico corresponde a um dos mais singulares espaços verdes da cidade do Porto. Com cerca de 41 000 m2 , é ladeado à beira-rio por uma Alameda de Palmeiras das Canárias classificadas de interesse público. Uma série de elementos arquitectónicos de grande valor convivem, lado a lado, com o exuberante arvoredo se onde destacam oPinheiro de Norfolk e os metrosideros. Desenvolve-se geometricamente ao longo de um eixo central, pontuado por diversas obras como por exemplo, os dois Obeliscos de Nasoni, oriundos da Quinta da Prelada e Monumento Nacional, ou os sanitários públicos, construídos em 1910, decorados com azulejos Arte Nova e loiças inglesas. Curiosidades O Chalé "Suisso", Monumento Nacional, ostenta no topo do telhado a escultura do Carneiro, bem pintado de branco. Era local de tertúlias literárias onde marcaram presença Camilo Castelo Branco, Arnaldo Gama, Ramalho Ortigão, Alberto Pimentel e outros.

Beautiful area with plenty of green parks and beaches. The sunset at the lighthouse is a must. Many good italian restaurants and sea-side bars and restaurants as well. Great for taking a walk. I recommend getting there from Porto by Uber or streetcar if you want the experience.
