When deciding where to stay in Porto, I discovered Vila Camelia through Porto and North of Portugal - Tips for Travellers. I was a little wary at first as there were no reviews, but after looking at pictures and speaking with Enzo Lestuzzi, we booked it. They had only been open for a few months, hence no reviews. It did not disappoint!!! The newly renovated guest suites and restaurant are run by the Lestuzzi family, Enrique who was a Michelen chef in France, along with his wife Manuela, and their two sons, Enzo and Hugo. The rooms were quiet, spacious, beautifully appointed, and immaculate. One room that accommodated a king and a twin-sized bed had a delightful sitting area with a bank of windows. The other room, located on the second floor, had a king-size bed and a terrace overlooking a beautiful garden area. (You must be able to climb stairs to the suites).
Breakfast was included, which included a delicious variety of homemade jams, yogurt, breads, freshly squeezed juices, and locally sourced meats, cheeses, and fruits. They also have lunches or dinners available for guests or private parties. We had dinner there once to celebrate my birthday, and were given a four course meal - appetizers, a first course, an entree, and dessert, along with a delicious wine from the Douro Valley. The meal was delicious!! Vila Camelia is located an easy 20 minute walk from the city center, but in a beautiful residential area where all of the restaurants are local, where some of the servers do not speak English but are very friendly, and the food is delicious. We highly recommend Vila Camelia when in Porto. The Lestuzzi made us feel so welcomed, and we were very sad to leave. We will definitely stay here again if we get...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay in Porto at this charming, family-run accommodation. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the lovely family who run the place, and it really set the tone for our whole trip.
Our room, located on the top floor, was spacious, spotlessly clean, and tastefully decorated. One of the highlights was the balcony, which offered a fantastic view – the perfect spot to relax after a day exploring the city.
The family’s background in hospitality truly shows, especially with the dad, a former Michelin star chef, preparing the food. We enjoyed breakfast on two mornings and had lunch on one afternoon — every meal was absolutely incredible and offered amazing value. The fresh, carefully prepared dishes made dining here a real highlight of our stay.
On our final day, we were lucky enough to experience a buffet-style lunch in the beautiful garden, which was the perfect way to end our trip. The combination of delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, and genuine hospitality made it a moment we won't forget.
We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Porto —...
Read moreWe stayed at the Vila Camélia in Porto for a week in March. It was an excellent experience! The Lestuzzi family looked after us with great individuality and attention to detail. We felt that they really went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our suite was stylishly and comfortably furnished, there was everything we needed and Manuela and her sons were always available. Breakfast was plentiful and there was a special surprise every time. We enjoyed the evening menu at the Vila Camélia twice. Enrico knew how to tell stories and compose music full of flavor with his perfect cooking skills. The wine recommendations were wonderfully descriptive and to the point. The communication was always excellent and if words were not precise enough, the language of the heart was all the more so. Thank you very much for this experience and we hope to see you...
