Mixed Experience at Han Table – Amazing Server, Disappointing Start
I was really looking forward to a special mother-son dinner at Han Table in Setúbal. My 7-year-old son loves Korean barbecue, and after an excellent experience at their Porto location, I was excited to treat him to something I thought he’d really enjoy. Unfortunately, our evening got off to a rough start.
Despite having a reservation, we were completely ignored when we arrived. A large family walked in behind us—clearly regulars—and the staff warmly greeted each one of them, completely bypassing us. They seated that party of eight, without a reservation, before even acknowledging us. When they finally turned their attention to us, they seemed confused about our reservation and looked around unsure if they even had a table available. Eventually, we were seated at a table right in the front.
From there, service was spotty. We waited quite a while for menus, and it took two attempts to get our drinks and kimchi. It just wasn’t the warm welcome or smooth experience I had hoped for.
But things turned around when we got a new server—possibly due to a shift change. He was excellent—attentive, kind, and made us feel seen. (He’s pictured here because he truly deserves recognition!) The food was good, and my son enjoyed the meal, which was the most important thing for me.
Still, first impressions matter, especially when dining out with a child. While the location is lively and central, and the food quality is there, the inconsistent service means I probably won’t be returning to this location. If you go, make a reservation and bring patience—it gets...

The real highlight of our evening, however, was the impeccable service, especially from our waitress, Xotem. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves throughout the entire meal. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she added such a local, personal touch that made the experience even more memorable.
As for the food, absolutely fantastic. The quality of the meat was outstanding (especially the Wagyu), everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the combination of Korean barbecue and hotpot made for a fun, interactive dining experience. We also appreciated the variety, including options for vegetarians and some unexpected treats like bubble tea and soju.
The attention to detail here is unmatched, the grill was regularly changed, staff were always checking in (without being intrusive), and everything felt exceptionally well-organized.
If you're in Setúbal and looking for something special, Han Table Barbecue is a must-visit. The food is delicious, the vibe is lively yet relaxed, and the service. Thanks again, Xotem, s simply top-notch. We’ll...
Read moreThe restaurant uses the wrong rice for Korean dishes to cut costs. I went to this location twice ( pregnant and was craving some Korean food ) . The first time even though we ordered alot of food , as I was still eating I was approached by a server to ask me to eat quickly because the table was reserved ( noting that overall I was there less than 1 hour including the time ordering and waiting for the food to arrive) and after telling me that even though I still had food on the table they asked if I want dessert..?! ( I eat slow as per my doctor recommendation which is standard for all pregnant women) Second time I went there my husband got food poisoning. We ordered a lot of dishes but my main course came in very oily so I didn't really eat it and I wasn't very hungry so I only touched one plate. My husband on the other hand had chicken and bibimpap and had to call a doctor who confirmed his symptoms to be related to food poisoning. Unfortunately the only Korean restaurant in margem sul is now no longer an...
