Every time I visit Setúbal, Restaurante O Tavira is an absolute must! This restaurant truly captures the essence of Portuguese seafood cuisine at its finest. During our visit, we enjoyed a fantastic selection of dishes – from perfectly cooked prawns to fresh clams and other delicious seafood, each plate bursting with flavor and prepared with great attention to detail. The freshness of the ingredients was obvious from the very first bite, and every dish was beautifully presented.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is warm, cozy, and authentic, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed meal with family or friends. The staff deserves a special mention: they are always welcoming, incredibly friendly, attentive, and make sure every guest feels well taken care of. Their excellent service adds so much to the overall experience.
We paired our meal with a refreshing rosé wine, which complemented the seafood perfectly. The wine selection is impressive, and the staff was happy to offer recommendations to ensure the best match for our dishes.

If you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy fresh seafood, great wines, and true Portuguese hospitality, this is without a doubt the place to go. Highly...
Read moreWe were coming back to Lisbon from Evora, and we wanted to have some gelato. We parked next to the Vicci Geladaria and smelled grilled fish next door. Guided by our noses and hunger, we turned away from gelato and requested a table for two at O Tavira. What a wise decision it was! This place offers the best white Sangria we have ever had. The fish (we ordered bass by the kilo) was also excellent. Veggies (we don't eat potatoes) were perfectly steamed, not overcooked. Appetizers - we had cheese and presunto. Especially presunto was very tasty. We had a table in front of the place where the presunto was sliced. You could see the love the owner (?) of the restaurant puts into slicing it to the ideal thickness. The only problem was that the menu was only in Portuguese, but the Google Translate app came to the rescue. Great meal, great time. And yes, we did go for gelato as a dessert next door...
Read moreWe had a recommendation for this restaurant and it was a disappointment. Big portions, low preparation quality. Pot dishes are way to big for one person and a lot is to be wasted. No one warned us that one pot would almost be enough for the 3 of us! They just let us order food we would not be able to eat (3 pots). All rice or pasta seafood pots tasted the same, rice was way undercooked. Octopus rice tasted like any other fish pot and was full of shrimp. Staff was nice but a bit all over the...
