Honorato's — Restaurant in Vila Real de Santo António

In an area increasingly gentrified by tourism, like much of the Portuguese coast, you'll find Honorato's, a pizzeria-restaurant with an interesting gastronomic offering of well-prepared traditional Portuguese dishes and a good price-to-food ratio (€20-25 per person). We went there three times in a row due to the great food and customer service, until we were poorly treated by the owner, who is a rude, stubborn, and ill-tempered man. This completely ruined our experience that night, to the point that we didn't even eat there. It's unfortunate because the place has a lot of potential, and dishes like the Algarvian tuna, seafood mix, meat mix, grilled squid, and cuttlefish are all very good. However, given the risk of being mistreated by the owner, it's probably better to look for another...

El servicio pesimo, los camareros después de decirles que es lo que querías se ponían hacer cualquier otra cosa menos servirte, riendose entre ellos, un hombre y una mujer, la cuenta nos la tiraron a la mesa como si fuesemos basura. Pedimos 2 bacalados dorados, los dos congelados relacalentados, parecía que estabamos comiendo solo mantequilla. Para beber nos pedimos tintos de verano, totalmente insipidos, te traían el vaso donde podías ver claramente que la mitad de arriba era vino, y la mitad de abajo era gaseosa blanca o incluso agua, malisimo. 10 minutos para conseguir que trajeran el aceite y el vinagre para la ensalada. Después de pedir la cuenta lo uníco que se oía en el restaurante eran los gritos de que ya les quedaba poco para terminar de trabajar, pesima experiencia, pesimo servicio, pesima comida, hace 3 años el restaurante era todo lo contrario, una lastima, nunca volveremos. O péssimo atendimento, os garçons depois de dizerem o que vocês queriam fariam outra coisa senão servir vocês, rindo entre si, um homem e uma mulher, a conta foi jogada na mesa como se fôssemos lixo. Pedimos 2 bacalhau dourado, ambos reaquecidos congelados, parecia que comíamos só manteiga. Para beber pedimos tintos de verão, totalmente sem gosto, trouxeram a taça onde dava para ver claramente que a metade superior era vinho e a metade inferior era refrigerante branco ou mesmo água, péssimo. 10 minutos para obter o azeite e o vinagre para a salada. Depois de pedir a conta, a única coisa que se ouvia no restaurante eram os gritos de que faltava pouco para terminar o trabalho, experiência ruim, atendimento ruim, comida ruim, há 3 anos o restaurante era o contrário, uma pena, nunca...

Smaller version of the Honorato's in Vila Real de Santo António, this was OK to visit for a relatively quick meal. Good location on the front street at the beach, although no water views. The service was erratic and we reminded the server about several items. The food was just OK. My friend's pizza was tasty but the crust was very thin & stiff. My hamburger was overcooked but not a total loss. My wife's pork with mushroom sauce was good. And the drinks were good and large. And all very affordable. But I'll try somewhere else on that...
