If you are in the mood for other culinary delights during your stay in the Algarve, in addition to the fish dishes offered everywhere and those of Iberian pork, and you are also a vegetarian, then we recommend a visit to the GREEN BUDDAH restaurant in the city center of Vila Real do San Antonio. This small restaurant offers space at six tables for four people each and also has a few seats in the tastefully furnished interior. Mainly Asian dishes can be found on the menu, but various international dishes are also offered. We noticed, among other things, Mexican dishes. We opted for very tasty smoothies made from fruit and vegetable juice, and we also ordered 1x Teryiaki chicken and a Marrakech bowl. Banoffee and a piece of nut cake as well as espresso formed the end of a very tasty and well-presented sequence of dishes. The service was very courteous, professional and pleasantly approachable and friendly. In our opinion, the prices are moderate and it is surprising that they are not a little higher since the quality of the food is very good. Conclusion: a successful evening for us and an urgent recommendation for everyone who is a little tired of fish and pork dishes and who want a change!
I wrote my first review for the Green Buddha restaurant 3 years ago! And I have nothing fundamental to add! But experience shows that quality and service often deteriorate over the years! Not so at Green Buddha! Everything is still very good! Very tasty food. Great dessert and very friendly, attentive service. Thanks to Rui! We would love...
Read moreI would give 5 stars for friendliness. The lemonade was tasty. But the food was not great. We had the vegan bowl, the quinoa was not seasoned, it was super bland, same goes for the tofu. There was cucumber and avocado in it. Nothing was seasoned, it had no taste. As a dressing they used strawberry sauce. So you ate cucumber with strawberry jam. Super weird, do not understand it and it didn’t tast nice at all. Just one bland and flavorless bowl with strawberry sauce. The burger was bland as wel. It tasted like raw bread in the middle of bread. The onions on it had some taste, but not much. There was no sauce on the bun, no tomato, nothing. Just bread and a burger that didn’t taste like anything. The sweet potato fries were also bland, no salt or anything. They were very kind and refunded the burger, they said it was indeed not the best. So it’s a plus they have vegan options, but it’s a shame no one tastes the food before they serve it. Because it was...
Read moreI’m vegan so I asked for the vegan option of the pad Thai, but I wanted to know how they would made it vegan. The answer was just take out the boiled egg. So, they leave the sauce? Yes, I was told. But the sauce is not vegan, it has oyster as one of the ingredients, I replied. So the waiter asked another staff and they said they won’t add the sauce. What? So, it was going to be a very insipid pad Thai. They offer a vegan option but do not have an idea. They need better training, and a cook who knows how to get good alternatives for vegan options, or not to offer a vegan option if they don’t know that oysters is an animal. I ended up asking for the vegan bowl. It was ok, presentation was pretty, but it needed a little more dressing. They also made a mistake with the bill, so we spent more time sorting it out. A...
