We went off hours around 4 so there was ample parking and not many guests. The weather was beautiful so we decided to get a table outside. We were a large party and there were many options for us to chose from including private majlis. The grounds are extremely well kept and ideal for small children to play while the adults get some time to converse. We were hungry and the food looked absolutely delicious when it came and we forgot to click pics of the food. Food: Mix fatayer - There were 3 each of the zaatar and cheese fatayer and it was fresh and good Mixed Grill - This was my least favorite dish. The lamb chops were quite tasty but the chicken tikka, shokaf and the baby chicken were too dry. Majboos Dajaj - Tasty and flavorful Mashwi Jadar Badawi - This was the best surprise from the late lunch. Tender lamb, aromatic and flavorful rice mixed with the saffron sauce. It was absolutely delicious. Mohammar rice with fish - The fish was fresh and grilled perfectly garnished with a mix of chopped peppers. I didn't care for the rice so much but the fish compensated for it completely. Karak chai - Although unsure how this would be, it also turned out to be surprisingly tasty Tea Pot - This was unfortunately disappointing. We'd asked for mint tea but it came without. Although they got mint leaves later to add, it's really not the same thing without proper infusion. The tea itself was also towards the bitter/stronger side. Presentation however was spot on along side the theme of the place.
Service: Extremely good. Right from the entrance where there was a host to guide you to a table of your choice, recommend dishes for first-timers till the extremely courteous servers (special mention for Shahzeb), this place was hospitality at its best.
Summary: I would definitely visit this place again and again to also try newer items there. I would also highly recommend anyone to visit either for a quiet meal or a family meal followed by a run for the kids in the park adjacent to...
Read moreThis is a gem of a restaurant offering authentic Qatari cuisine since 1925, and our recent visit for a late breakfast did not disappoint. This traditional Qatari restaurant, built within an old Qatari family house, even houses a museum, giving it a unique and enriching ambiance.
We were greeted by the impressive garden view, a tranquil and beautiful setting that immediately made us feel at ease. However, given the intense heat, we opted for a private room with a direct view of the garden instead of outdoor seating.
The breakfast selection at Bayt Sharq is commendable. We ordered the Al Roshanah Tray, an assortment of various traditional delights including mixed cheese and butter, strawberry jam, mixed olives, gaymar and honey, hummus, cheese zaatar and lahem fatayer, falafel, foul, grilled halloumi, balaleet, scrambled eggs, keema, and a pot of tea or karak. Additionally, baked beans were also part of the meal. Each item was a delight to the taste buds—delicious and served hot.
Despite the extraordinary food and wonderful setting, we did encounter one issue: the service. The waiters appeared tired and unenthusiastic, lacking the warm and welcoming demeanor one would expect at such a prestigious establishment. It's plausible that the extreme heat affected their moods, but it did slightly impact our overall experience.
In summary, Bayt Sharq offers an unforgettable dining experience with its outstanding traditional breakfast options, beautiful garden views, and historic ambiance. Hopefully, in the future, the service staff will enhance their energy and friendliness to match the high standards set by the restaurant’s food...
Read moreI recently dined at Bayt Sharq and overall, it was a delightful experience with a few hiccups along the way. Let me share my thoughts. The ambiance of the place is simply amazing, setting the stage for a pleasant dining experience. The food, without a doubt, was delicious, satisfying even the most discerning taste buds. However, I must address an issue with the customer service, which regrettably dampened my experience. I encountered a staff member named Yamin, whose approach to customer service left much to be desired. She seemed uninterested and lacked the warmth one expects from a welcoming person. Additionally, her decision to change my table twice made me feel unwelcome and undervalued as a customer. Fortunately, the situation took a positive turn when the manager, Bassil, intervened. His professionalism and extensive experience in customer service were evident as he promptly addressed my concerns and ensured that the rest of my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. His intervention truly salvaged the evening for me. Furthermore, I must commend the server, Mustafa, whose attentiveness and professionalism contributed greatly to my overall satisfaction with the service.
In conclusion, while my encounter with Yamin was disappointing, the exemplary service provided by Bassil and Mustafa redeemed the experience. I would recommend Bayt Sharq for its delicious food and commendable customer service, with hopes that any issues with staff interactions will be addressed for the benefit of...
