A unique place that just opened up a few months ago serving food from Burma, Vietnam and Thailand. I was especially intrigued with trying out food from Burma and Vietnam as it is not so common in Qatar. The place is small and cozy yet beautifully decorated with the colorful umbrellas and hats on the ceilings and walls. Hats off to the extremely welcoming staff, they knew it was our first time and were just very friendly and tried to help and explain all the dishes in detail, not so typical in the dining scene in Qatar.
The menu was huge and had lots of clear photos. We tried a few dishes to share to explore the different cuisines. My favorite dish would have to be the Banh Khot, which are Vietnamese Savory Mini Shrimp Pancakes, crispy balls with a soft and fluffy inside filled with shrimp and coconut cream and topped with fried garlic and spring onions. Really nice texture and it was almost bite sized that I just couldn't stop eating them. We also tried the Vietnamese Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls, a big portion and tasted very fresh, a nice way to start the meal.
For the main courses, an absolute must try is their Ayeyarwady Prawns, which is a stir fried Burmese dish with shell-on shrimps served in an onion, garlic, ginger and spicy chili paste. This was super flavorful and tasty, best enjoyed with a side of steamed rice to soak up all that delicious sauce. Another dish we had that was pretty mild, but interesting, was their Ohn No Khao Swel, a Burmese creamy noodle soup with curried chicken and egg, served with some toppings and their gourd tempura. The soup curry was very mild but had a coconut flavor to it, and the noodles resembled fettuccine which didn't have that typical Asian style noodle flavor. Another dish that was super light and fresh was the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, a Vietnamese rice noodle bowl served with a bunch of the tangy and spicy Vietnamese fish sauce. This was served with coconut flavored chicken skewers and chicken spring rolls. It wasn't exactly my favorite dish but still quite nice and refreshing, with the bright flavor of the lime and cilantro, to the tangy fish sauce to the spicy chili.
I would have loved to continue to try some of their desserts, but I was just too stuffed from all the dishes we ate. Was a very satisfying meal as a whole, and I would definitely be going back to try more of their dishes and to try some of their desserts. They also have Vietnamese Hot Pot, which would be interesting. The prices were really really great for the huge portions.
