Saravanaa Bhavan — Restaurant in Doha

Good place for South India food. Very nice space, quiet. Service prompt and friendly. Food was excellently prepared; wide vegetarian selection. Personally, I think the best in Doha. This is an authentic south Indian food restaurant. They do serve North Indian dishes but as the name suggests South Indian dishes are more preferable. Ambiance is casual but nice and clean since the renovation. The best deal is the lunch which includes a few Punjabi items to get your fix. Some of my favorite items including the bhel, vada sambar, and dosa. Excellent location, Good service, Long wait but its a very popular spot for many Indians to eat. I found the food to be of very good quality. There was no need to wait for cutleries or replenishing of any item. The place is neat and clean. Fruit salad and Gulab Jamun were absolutely delicious. Disappointing and appalling experience. I am a touirst from Saudi Arabia and did not expected such behavior. Got mistreated by manager infront of all guests. This ordeal took place between 1:00pm to 2:00pm on on 7th January at a corner table. I'd request management to review CCTV. I ordered one rice entree and one lentil entree. Later I decided that I'd like to try their signature thali which had a "not for sharing" disclaimer. I had noted it but thought ok I am not going to get refill and will eat whatever comes in one go, which I did. During 1st serving of rice, manager created a scene and told us off, which could have been relayed in a proper manner. On contrary the exchange was most public. The manager went as far as to bring the menu and point out just to show off other guests. Poor service. Poor meals quality. Dissatisfied.

We ordered meals, there was noone to serve rice on time, no servers available in the vicinity, there was only 1 server at that time who always disappears, the cashier was acting as a part-time server. We had to wait for long time to have the rice served.

The server who was taking our order go busy in the middle of the order on his personal phone call (by the conversation he had, it doesn't seem so urgent than to take customer's order). He was also nagging us to go with meals (just because it's the most ordered item at that moment), also to order "paruppu vada".

Coming to the meals quality, the taste of rasam was soo bad, others were just average. Will never order meals next time. Totally dissatisfied.
