Discovered this restaurant on Instagram, and decided to give it try. The Instagram as well as photos online made the restaurant look a lot larger than it actually is. I pre-booked a table for family. When we arrived we were able to park across the street from the restaurant in some reserved spaces. We entered the restaurant ourselves, not greeted at the door although a waiter was standing very close to it. When we entered we were shown to our table. The restaurant is extremely small inside. It has maximum seated capacity for around 30. The decor is geared towards making it look Instagramable but does require cleaning and touching up. The waiter promptly gave us our menu, and we spent a few minutes looking through it. We had already decided to select this restaurant due to it's wide ranging menu and that they offered chaat on the menu. When we decided to order chat, the waiter told us it was not available until 7pm due to some changeover of staff. This really ruined things for us, as the menu was advertised as a one stop shop for all things. Anyhow, it was too late to leave the restaurant so we ordered a number of items including butter chicken, butter naan, mixed grill and their signature spicy chicken.
The food service was extremely slow - 30 mins passed by and nothing had been served. Considering we were the only customers in the restaurant this was unexpectedly poor. I raised it with the waiter as we hadn't been updated, and he stated that they needed another 10 mins. We had not even been served our drinks at this point, which is very poor.
Eventually the food arrived. I must state that the food was exceptionally good quality. The flavours were excellent. Portion sizes were good. This definitely helped with my overall rating.
Another negative aspect is, that they invite in the talabat drivers to sit in the restaurant whilst waiting to collect their delivery parcels. This is not a good practice and certainly detracts from the overall look and feel.
Overall, food was great - however there are many areas of improvement for this...
Read moreDGrill Restaurant is a charming little gem nestled in Bank Street (near sward signal). Specializing in Indian cuisine, it offers a cozy dining experience, with the added option of outdoor seating that can comfortably accommodate 10-12 groups of 4-5 people. However, be prepared for a brief wait of 10-15 minutes on weekends due to its popularity.
During my recent visit, I ordered Spicy Chicken Combo, which was an absolute treat. The combo includes their special spicy chicken(half), two pieces of khubus bread, a glass of pineapple juice and a small portion of fresh and dry vegetable salad. As always, the spicy chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, spicy and bursting with flavor, making it the standout item on their menu. The khubus bread complemented the chicken beautifully, and the pineapple juice provided a tangy contrast to the spicy main course.
The service at DGrill is really good. The staff is courteous, attentive, and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. Despite the tight interior, the ambiance is welcoming and comfortable, making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends or family.
One downside, however, is the limited space inside the restaurant. It can be challenging to accommodate groups larger than six, which might be a drawback for bigger gatherings.
Overall, DGrill Restaurant is a must-visit for lovers of Indian cuisine. The Spicy Chicken Combo, in particular, is a standout dish that keeps us coming back for more. If you find yourself in Grand Hamad Street, don't miss the chance to taste this...
Read moreThis is one of the hidden gems of Doha and a bit cursed. They just completed two years of service. To me the restaurant is a bit cursed. Last year they suffered due to Covid restrictions and now because of the Al Asmakh development, they have been robbed of all nearby parking places.
I can't rightly define how to categorize, fast food or proper dining (not fine dining though). They have a great selection of burgers, but if I really wanted to have a good burger, Rick's Country Kitchen would be a better choice. We usually go for light dinner. Their signature dish is SPICY Chicken and it's not for the faint hearted. It's real hot, but flavourful hot of pepper and other spices. My thirteen year old, for whom we cook at home without chillies, digs their Spicy Chicken. The chicken is served with a pineapple juice, so you know that the chef is in clear about what he is serving. They have both types of Kebabs - Moghlai & Arabic style. In Moghlai style, I believe the marination time is more rendering the meat to be softer and also the marinades also vary and makes it more colorful. We tried their normal Indian dishes and it's typical North Indian style, which I like. The best part is their roti, the softest, the fluffiest and the best I have tested in Doha. Recently they have introduced Pasta in their menu, saw Penne being served in white sauce with a couple of garlic bread. Going by the standard of the chef, I can vouch that it would be tasty like all...
