Poor experience. I went with my wife for dinner and fado for which we bought tickets. As we got in, the decor and atmosphere looked quite nice and pleasant with a little boutique selling Portuguese products (wine, sardines, etc).
As soon as we were directed to our table the whole experience start going down. We were sat at the end of a massive room, from which we had no clear visibility for the concert.
We asked an octopus salad and red sea bream and a cod with corn bread. As portuguese myself, the food was tasteless, the octopus was like rubber and the sea bream was overcooked, completely dry. My wife's cod was unsalted (Portuguese cod is supposed to have salt) and so was its sides. On top of that it was the most expensive food I had in Bucharest and one of the worst.
The fado artists were true fado singers and guitarists, however they were singing towards the building pillar which was separating the room, and the singer had to move between both sides to be able to be seen by everyone.
The singer was totally disrespected for the entire concert due to the fact that the restaurant has an open kitchen and people kept chatting during the songs. Fado dinners require staff to stop serving while the artist sings. Even the singer kept asking for silence otherwise the songs would have no meaning.
As a portuguese restaurant is poor, as a restaurant is ok, not worth the...
Read moreA very underwhelming experience. The only good thing that I can say about it is that the atmosphere is very nice, it’s a very chill garden next to the Tei lake.
The service was very, veeeery slow. We sat with the empty plates in front of us for more than 20 minutes. Drinks would come 15 minutes after ordering, and that is after struggling to catch the waiters attention so we could order them in the first place. And also they added 10% by default on the bill, which caught us by surprise. Plus, it was actually 11%, because they added the 10% tip ON THE TIP AS WELL. Very awkward, since we didn’t think 10% of a very large bill would be worth the quality of service.
Now, the most important topic. Food. Besides the fact that they didn’t have most of the dishes on the menu, what they had was just… not that good. The lobster, instead of coming with a thick compound butter, came with a watery stock. Oh yeah, and with a very, veeeery thin lemon slice. For an order of lobsters worth more than 400euros, would it have been too much to leave some more lemon? But the real problem was the lack of compound butter, it really is a shame to cook a fresh lobster and eat it without it. The deserts were ok. The steak was...
Read moreGood food, can work on the atmosphere. We walked in without a reservation right after our session at the pool/ gym (Pescariu), and we were welcomed very politely and professionally. There were only a couple of small tables available but we were lead to a nice one. The service was very good and prompt, their English is excellent. The starters (baby squids and crab salad) were very tasty, as were the “greetings” served before (olives, tuna paste and carrots), the warm bread delicious. The cod filet was not very good: somewhat uncooked with a very strong fishy smell. The atmosphere was completely ruined by the antisocial, obnoxious behavior of some kids, and the restaurant management who tolerated this, disrespecting all other customers. The kids were not just loud playing, at one point they started playing with the decoration, especially a ship, which was being rubbed on the seating area. Removing an additional star might have been appropriate, because of the ruined experience. However, we’ve been here before and the...
