It was one of the most disappointing experiences in a restaurant, that is supposed to be high end, but it is not even worth the one star that we gave for this review. Supposed to be a relaxing and romantic evening, and turned out to be the most disappointing one. It started with the elevator experience, when the lady that was supposed to take us to the elevators asked for the name on which the reservation is. My husband is mostly a funny person. He answered:“Alexander, the Great”.Which was supposed to be a joke. But maybe she is not into history, or has zero sense of humor, as her reaction was rather disturbed. Being sited we decided to have, each one starter and then for the main menu, Chateaubriand with Foie Gras, which was in the menu to share, as also each of us one side dish. Our waiter Maria came back saying that they do not have the Foie Gras today, which was part of the dish and also a very important one to us. She said the only option she would have , is to serve it without the Foie Gras if we would agree. After overthinking that, we told her we will take it this way, even though we would have loved the Foie Gras. The starter was rather tasteless and not really as expected. When the Chateaubriand was served it was just barely warm, just like the mashed potatoes. We thought about sending everything back to the kitchen, but we have tried to rather enjoy our meal out than start a fight about it. Also we like our meat to be medium rare, and we knew if they would cook it again, to warm it up it would be rather well done… so we “enjoyed” it almost cold. All this time nobody asked us if we would possibly want another drink. Our waitress was the longest while gone. So we finally asked someone else to serve us at least water. Our whole romantic, relaxing mood was gone. At some point the waitress came back, but was obviously very mad about something, talking with her colleagues pretty nervous, obviously explaining them about some situation. She still never came to ask if we want anything else. When we finished our meal we asked again another colleague to please bring us the bill. We would normally enjoy another drink together and a dessert, but this was not really wanted anymore after all this experience. To our surprise on the bill was the Chateaubriand fully charged, even though one important part, the Foie Gras, was missed. Which is not a simple ingredient. Besides of the fact that it changes the whole taste of the dish without it, which we agreed on, the cost of this ingredient should normally add, or not, a big amount. I needed to ask the waitress if this is for real, that they charge the whole amount of the dish if they are missing a quite important part of it. Her answer was that we agreed on the dish like that from the start. So I explained that we agreed on the missing part, but not on the amount unchanged, even if it’s missing. She said she needs to ask in the kitchen and will be back with an answer. She came back saying that they cannot change the price, but since we insist we get a 10% voucher. The insisting comment irritated us even more, as it was not about having a discount in general, but about the fact to be fair to their guests. The manager Roxana came also to our table, to ask what exactly was the matter of our disappointment, so we explained again and she also insisted that we were informed from the start. None of them seemed to understand, that you cannot miss a very important ingredient of the dish and still charge the same amount. She finally came up with the idea to tell us that quantity of meat was added to the dish, to make up for the missing ingredient. Which was quite amusing, because nobody mentioned it until then and of course it was something not provable after we had eaten. So, once again, the whole discussion happened not because anything else but looking for fairness for the client. Our evening was rather exhausting than relaxing. 654 RON dinner for 2 people, which would be more than fine with us, if the dishes, service and behavior would reach to this...
Read moreI had pure soul mushroom risotto, black angus tenderloin, and truffle mashed potatoes. I felt the risotto could have used more mushrooms - there were only 4 pieces of mushrooms on top of the risotto...none mixed into the risotto itself. The steak was not at all what I expected. It was listed under charcoal grill section, subsection grill, but it was not grilled. The steak seemed like it was made sous vide and was put on a grill just for the grill marks. It did not resemble the texture not flavor of a grilled steak at all. The mashed potatoes were the best thing I ordered on the menu, no notes.
I would say the service is a bit slow because no one followed up after giving me my meal, and I had to call over a server myself for the bill after staring them down for what felt like 15-20 minutes. Even after telling the server I wanted my check, it took another 15ish minutes to actually receive my check. Also, the server noticed I did not finish my meal so he asked if something was wrong, I was hesitant to tell him my thoughts but since he insisted, I told him that I did not like the steak because it did not seem like it was grilled which felt like false advertising and the taste and texture resembled sous vide steak instead. I did not receive any comments or a follow-up after this interaction, and no, nothing was taken off the bill. I did not ask for anything to be comped, and the server did not proactively take anything off, just noting here for reference.
Another thing I noticed after I was done with my meal was that every table besides mine had a bottle of still water and sparking water. Both the tables with patrons and the empty tables, they all had water. My table did not have water, and neither was I offered water. I know in some places in Europe water costs extra in restaurants so I did not ask for it, but seeing that every table and even tables had water makes me thing it is complimentary, but my server did not...
Read moreA nice place that they managed to spoil unfortunately. Is packed with tables, not enough space in between, would tend to say 20-25% more spots than what should be there. This makes it very noisy and look like a cantine. Literally sitting back to back with our next table neighbours - just a sofa back between the people...But profit is profit so hey, who likes an overpriced cantine can stop by at any time. In that loud buzz there was also a violonist who made it worse - now we couldn't hear each other at all.... Service is not there....2 stars overall. We were a group of 8 and had to wait about 20 to 30 minutes for our table to be vacated, although we had a confirmed reservation. They tried to make up for it with a glass of prosecco, which was a nice touch, but considering that the place was full, did not have where to savor it. There are many foreigners in the place, mostly coming from the Sky Tower and enarby companies. But the place is just a shell of what it used to be - come once but not again... As per the food, not all brought at the same time. Couple people out of 8 got their food 20 to 30 minutes later. Food quality is lower than we were used to. The taste is not there compared to the price. Presentation is good though. The "Papanași that made us famous" are now just some donuts out of the freezer. Nothing special, below average. Wine is decent as offering. Maybe one minus is the fact that everything is on a different menu and you get only 3 out of 4 menus from the start. Wine and desert are 2 separate menus. Kind of overkill to look at 4 menus at a time, especially if you are out for a date. All in all, average or below average experience. Is worth only if you get a table by the window, otherwise quality for price is just not there. Place to come by again? Probably not...
