Trattoria Il Calcio Universitate — Restaurant in Bucharest

I wanted some good pasta, and remembered that ll Calcio, being and Italian restaurant might offer what I need. Wrong :) - the pasta I have eaten there recently was something you can find in any small restaurant/pub from Bucharest, not even specialised in Italian cuisine. I ordered tagliolini with funghi porcini and white truffles. They brought me some pasta with few pieces of funghi porcini( most probably frozen) not the best sauce and the truffles taste most probably coming from the oil (which also had a taste of sunflower used oil). I ate them all, being hungry, otherwise I would be reverting them back, as I did with the green salad ordered in which I found a fly. The staff attentive and appologized, also removed the salad from the bill- which si good enough, although an additional something from the house would be a better option to manage the situation. The drinks also dissapointed- aperrol spritz very light and very sweet. I wouldn't recommend the place for an experience in Italian cuisine, maybe just an option to get some food when you are hungry and nothing better around. 3 stars just for the nice atmosphere and the staff...

I broke my rule about not eating at restaurants where they have people standing outside calling you in, but after walking miles throughout the city, we were tired and hungry, and who doesn't love a trattoria? The first red flag was when we walked in the door and found the employees standing by the front door. They did not give us a welcome but a weird look that was not welcoming at all. We did notice that there were only a couple of people eating in here, which again should have been a red flag. After we sat down, our waiter came over promptly. We asked him to give us a few minutes, but the few minutes turned into quite a few minutes. I had to get up out of my chair and go tell him we were ready to order because he was playing on his phone. Worst experience with the waiter! We ordered sparkling water, but the waiter brought still water. We asked to change the bottle of water, but he insisted that we ordered still water and he could not replace it. After arguing with him, he said he could add another water bottle to the bill and bring us the sparkling water bottle that he should have brought in the first place. At this point we decided to leave and just pay for the still water. He than got mad and said that we also need to pay for the lunches ordered 5 minutes before, but which were never brought to our table. We insisted to pay for the water bottle that was brought to the table, while he argued that we need to pay for “all our consumption”, although we did not consume anything!
