KAIF Provenance — Restaurant in Tverskoy District

Hidden (and by hidden I mean you will most likely miss the entrance due to the sign being so inconspicuous) in central Moscow, KAIF restaurant opened by musician Morgenshtern is as pretentious as a rapper's lyrics.

My wife had been reading all the positive reviews online, so when we set up a date with friends she chose KAIF.

The restaurant is in on the second floor of a commercial building. As I initially wrote, even though we were on foot, we passed by the entrance a few times because the sign was just a small, flat 2-foot clear piece of plastic/glass with the word KAIF written even smaller on it.

Once inside the restaurant, the atmosphere was actually pretty cool. The ceiling was a large glass dome-like shape and seemed to let the night sky fill the entire room. Not sure if it was the moon's light, but the space had a lunar hue to it. Predominantly candle lit, it felt like we were dining in a garden atrium in Gotham city.

The crowd was mostly 20 - 30 something. Perhaps that's why the reviews were so good; they just didn't know any better, or they just wanted to brag about eating at a celebrity restaurant.

Ok, so the atmosphere was cool, but the food was just not impressive at all (at least the items I tried). The issue is I tried KAIF's signature menu items (Golden Burger, and their blue KAIF cocktail). The burger wasn't bad, but it was just so "meh". Maybe my American pallet is biased, but the flavor was too dull for my liking. The blue cocktail might have been good if it was mixed well, but I actually found it gross. My Russian friends all seem to enjoy their meal, but I didn't get the impression that they were really impressed. The good thing is the price didn't make me completely regret eating there. For a party of 2, you should be able to have a 3 or 4-course meal with drinks for under 7000 rubles.

I'm giving KAIF 3 stars because as it is, it's not a place I would intentionally choose to go back to. There are just so many better options. If you haven't been, I would still say go though just in case my opinion...

The stuff and especially hostess girl were rude to us for no reason. We had a lovely Sunday and around 3pm decided to stop for a quick cocktail and bite without reservation. The hostess with haughty voice asked us if we have a reservation and I told her no. She then offered us to sit at the bar, which I refused. I asked her if we can wait for the table even if it would be 30-60min. She sarcastically replied “Madam, you what? Don’t understand? We are all booked until 11pm”. I looked inside the main hall with tables and 90% of them were empty. So it was just her way to get rid of us. In the end we left with very mixed feelings. If management allows its stuff to talk with customers in this way, the only “food” you would be served here is sarcasm and mockery. We will never come back here again because self respect is much more important than a cool Instagram...

Ору, с этих школьников которые пишут... Хорошо что Ресторан 18+, проверяют возраст на входе. За это отдельный + Нету мерзкий, сопливых школьников, которые бегали бы по ресторану чтобы сделать Фото с ним. За это поклон. В целом меню хорошее, но маленькое. К Новому Году хотелось бы побольше плюшек. Да, музыка играем громковато немного. Но, всегда можно попросить сделать чуть тише) Очень сильно нравятся такие олени, которые пишут про Поваров, Я 3 года отучился на него. В вышей Сфере ( Алексеевская метро ) И, повара там отличные. Теперь + Персонал хороший, подача блюд хорошая, все чистенькое ( Нету Ворсинок, следов пальцев на тарелке) Это Огромный респект Можно забронировать столик, чтобы не стоят как олень в очереди по 2ч, 100к для Москвы норм. Взять 5-7 блюд, + Напитки. И средний чек выходить 4-5 тысячи рублей, это очень хорошие Цены. Для ЦЕНТРА МОСКВЫ ! Единственное чтобы добавил это к 22 до 02:00 Сделать Кальян в меню. Было бы супер) Посидеть с друзьями так Да, парковок нету, около ресторана, ну и фиг с ним. Люди приезжают на Такси. И зачем париться искать места для машины. Приехал покушал, вызвал машину поехал домой ( Либо по своим делам ) Отдельный респект всем Официантом ( Особенно Полине ) Алишер, скажи мне пожалуйста. Где ты взять такие официанток ? Это лучшие Официанты, слушают всегда, хорошая память. Не записывают в блокноты. Премию всем нужно) Это лучший Ресторан в Центре Москвы, по ценам, и остальным + Их очень много тут Естественно 5 звезд ставлю. Не понимаю людей (Детей) Которые ставят по 1, пишут такие комментарии. А подробнее не пишут. А все почему ? Потому-что Школьник не пускают туда. Это Уфф прям) Единственное хочется по сотрудничать немного. Хотел бы провести в Ресторане Свадьбу ( Как закончится этот Карантин и тд ) Если это конечно возможно. И пообщаться с ЦОДД кто отвечает за улицу. Чтобы перекрывать 1 полосу, либо дать добро поставить машины на тротуаре) Всем KAIF ! Если какой-то школьник обиделся на меня. Можешь мне отписать в...
