Layali Aliraq, also known as Samad Aliraqi, is a culinary gem for lovers of authentic Iraqi cuisine. From the moment you walk in, the warm ambiance and traditional décor set the mood for a rich cultural dining experience. I had the pleasure of trying several standout dishes, and each one left a strong impression.
The Okrah Mosharab was exceptional — slow-cooked to perfection with a deep tomato-based flavor and tender okra that melted in the mouth. The Mixed Grill was juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right, offering a delicious variety of meats that captured the essence of Iraqi barbecue. The Spicy Potatoes were a pleasant surprise — crispy, flavorful, and just the right level of heat to complement the meal without overpowering it.
The Motabbal was silky, smoky, and full of character — a classic done very well. But perhaps the most unique dish was the Avocado and Dates Salad. It was refreshing, sweet, and savory all at once — a creative fusion that worked beautifully with the other heavier dishes.
To end on a high note, their famous Iraqi tea truly lives up to its reputation. Strong, fragrant, and served traditionally in glass cups, it’s the perfect conclusion to a hearty meal.
While the service was warm and the food nearly flawless, the only reason for not giving a full 5 stars is that the pace of service could be slightly more attentive during busy hours. Still, Layali Aliraq is an outstanding choice for a flavorful, authentic...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Layali Aliraq Restaurant, and I must say, it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The moment I walked in, I was captivated by the palace-like interior and the beautiful ambiance that set the perfect tone for a delightful meal.
The staff at Layali Aliraq were incredibly welcoming, providing wonderful hospitality that made me feel right at home. As a lovely touch, we were treated to a complimentary lentil soup, which was both hearty and flavorful.
For our starters, we ordered the Fattoush, which was fresh and vibrant, a perfect way to kick off our meal. For the main course, we indulged in the Dolma and a mixed grill. The Dolma was simply amazing; the way they stuff the vegetables is a must-try! The mixed grill was equally impressive, with the lamb chop being a standout—tender and full of flavor. The chicken kofta was one of the best I’ve ever had, perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection.
To finish off our meal, we tried the Mahalabia (Mango) for dessert, and it was superb! The creamy texture and delightful mango flavor were the perfect ending to our dining experience.
Overall, Layali Aliraq offers an authentic Iraqi experience that I highly recommend. I left with a full belly and a happy heart, and I certainly look forward to returning...
