Our hotel recommended this restaurant for traditional Serbian homemade food….
Our first impressions was a fireplace with lots of decorations like it was back to the yugoslavia era before the country’s break up.
The atmosphere was very homie and was full of local Serbians (which is always a plus and a sign that you have come to the right place).
They had live Serbian music sang and played by a group of men who would go table to table to sing for them….this was a fantastic experience which I recommend everyone to try!
The service was great, they were English speaking staff that understood us and attended to us promptly even when it was busy.
We ordered the traditional national Serbian food;
Karađorđeva šnicla - which is a meat roll filled with their own national cheese (Kajmak)
Sarma - cabbage leaves filled with rice and mince meat
Roasted veal in clay pot with potatoes
The food was fantastic and filling!
The sarma had a unique Mediterranean taste which I loved!!
The meat roll was filling and tasty (looks can be deceiving) but it was slightly on the ‘too cheesy’ side with the Kajmak and I wasn’t able to finish it.
The veal with potatoes had a lot of flavour and it was delicious!
The final bill was 5,200 Dinar for starters, mains and drinks for two people…..this was a bargain as the food was large in portion and the taste was worth every penny!
Oh and they also brew their own Brandie’s…we bought a couple as a souvenir for us to try when we get back home.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for value for money, homemade traditional Serbian food with live entertainment! You will not be...
Read moreThe place looks super inviting. Despite what is seen. Be careful of hidden fees. We went to this restaurant as a group and even though the food was good, the server's service was less than polite. They made us paid for an extra plate that was served as a mistake and even though we asked before eating it, they charged us for 8 servings of bread we did not order, they previously told us it was part of the service. The server was hostile giving excuses and saying we needed to hurry to pay and leave. We asked him at the beginning of the night to separate the checks which he could not do, to then tell us to hurry and that we needed to pay the full price plus the extra hidden fees. It is a shame that this happened I wished he at least gave me his name so you could stay away from his tables but he did not wanted to give it to us.
Again, food was good....
Read moreThe veal and potato I had here was really excellent, but the portion size needs to be bigger. However, the small portion size seems to be a trend in most resturants nowadays.....higher prices, smaller portions, more profit. Anyway, the live music was soft and therapeutic and the waiter was friendly and very professional. Everything was also very clean and the resturant in general had a very traditional ambience about it. My only criticism specific to this resturant is the prices on the menu do not match the final bill. Calculating my bill based on the menu would mean it should be about 1500dinar, but the final bill was 2020dinar. I wasn't too bothered because the food quality, service and ambience was worth it, but it is a little...
