Since none of the staff seem to speak Slovak in recent months (at least based on my experience), I’m writing this review in English.
I’ve been coming to this place—though not regularly—for over 12 years. I’ve noticed that although the name hasn't changed, the ownership seems to have switched at least three times.
The location is undeniably great. It's right where you’d expect hungry weekend passersby to stop by almost out of habit. But what continues to amaze me—even after all these years—is the incredibly confusing and illogical system of how the place operates.
Has anyone from the management ever stepped inside and looked at the space through the eyes of a first-time customer, especially a foreigner? When you walk into a place called "KEBAB", your instinct is simple: order a kebab. So you speak to the first staff member you see. But instead of taking your order, they send you further down. If you're lucky, you’ll speak to the right person on your second attempt. If not, you might find yourself trying to order from two different people who aren’t in charge of taking orders.
Eventually, if you manage to make it to the cashier and place your order, you get a receipt. Sometimes the cashier will kindly let you know to hand the receipt over to one of the prep staff (often the ones you already tried to order from earlier). But if no one tells you that, you could easily be left standing around for ages—no one preparing your food, no one aware of your order—until you finally go back to the cashier in frustration.
What’s truly baffling is that this chaotic system has been going on for over a decade. After so many confused, even confrontational moments between customers and staff, it's astonishing that no owner has ever decided to fix the workflow.
In an ideal world, there’d be a screen showing the order number. In a less ideal world, the kitchen staff would at least get a pop-up notification. In the most basic version of reality, the cashier would at least pass the order to the kitchen clearly and directly.
Bottom line: If you’re 20, slightly tipsy, and a loyal weekend visitor, you’ll probably get your food and enjoy it. But if you’re sober and walking in for the first time, avoid this place unless you...
Read moreI'm not in the habit of leaving positive or negative reviews of the places I visit, but today's visit to this place made me so angry that I'm going to make an exception for once.
I have visited this place once before and everything was correct and very fine, however on my second (and last) visit today I was cheated. I ordered the falafel in a tortilla with fries, both were ice cold by the time I got home (I live barely a 5 minute walk from this place). The worst thing was that I found out at home, after unwrapping the food, that the falafel was completely missing from the tortilla. I have to say that I was surprised how quickly the staff was done with the order and I had to keep an eye on everything, however, I have never encountered such insolence. Among other things, the music was so loud that I had to shout my order and the staff looked like I was bothering them the whole time.
I highly do not recommend the place and the staff should be ashamed of themselves....
Read moreThe worst kebab shop in Bratislava - and it's not like there's no competition! Terrible, offhand service. Ironically the guys washing the dishes and setting up the kebab meat all wear gloves, while the guy actually constructing the kebabs not only does not, but thinks nothing of picking up escaped bits of meat and vegetables that roll across the counter and thrusting them back in with his bare hands. He looks so bored it's amazing he can stand upright, and ignores any requests that deviate from 'everything?' regardless of the language used. All the vegetables are swimming in water, which he makes no attempt to drain, so within seconds of leaving the counter, the kebab is a soggy, doughy mass, leaking water everywhere. The sad part is that the food itself is not terrible. But the overall experience is atrocious. Just a slight increase in effort and customer service would make a huge difference. Ignore the obviously fake...
