Disappointing Experience Despite the Grand Ambience
I visited Bratislava Flagship Restaurant expecting a great experience, given its reputation and high ratings. While the atmosphere and ambience were impressiveāthe place looks quite grand and has a nice, traditional feelāthe overall experience was disappointing, primarily due to poor service and average food.
Food & Drinks
I ordered chicken wings, which turned out to be quite substandardāsomething you could get from any basic street food stall. There was nothing remarkable about the taste or presentation. Additionally, I ordered a light homemade beer, which was another letdown. As shown in the photo I uploaded on Google, more than half of the beer mug was just foam. Once the foam settled, I was left with barely half a pint, making it feel like I was being short-changed.
Service & Staff Attitude
The biggest disappointment was the rude and unprofessional staff. From the moment I walked in, I was not greeted warmly. When I asked for a table, I was simply told to take a small table without any assistance or guidance. Meanwhile, I could see the staff chatting, laughing, and hugging each other, behaving unprofessionally in front of customers.
One particular staff member, a female waiter with tattoos on both arms, was exceptionally rude. She did not smile, showed no willingness to help, and simply instructed me to find my own table. When I asked for water while eating, the waiter who brought it over did so with an attitudeāhe placed the bottle down with a grumpy face, avoided eye contact, and rushed off.
Possible Discrimination?
I couldnāt help but feel that their behavior was discriminatory. As a brown-skinned person, I noticed that the staff treated me differently from other guests. There was no warmth, no politeness, and a general lack of respect. While I canāt say for certain, their facial expressions and unwillingness to assist me made me feel unwelcome.
Final Verdict
Despite the beautiful setting, the poor service, rude staff, and subpar food make this place not worth visiting. I feel that Google Reviews and HGPT overpromote this restaurant unnecessarily. If youāre looking for a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience in Bratislava, Iād strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreflagship is one of the popular bratislava restaurants that serves latvian cuisine. the restaurant decoration and building is very nice and cool (built in a theater) but the food was quite disappointing (taste wise) and resulted into us having stomach aches.
the restaurant is located in the upper floor of an old renovated theater. when you first arrive, it seems completely quiet and you think you're in the wrong place, but go inside and up the stairs. the interior is very pretty.
dishes include traditional latvian cuisine. it's a touristy restaurant so the prices are higher.
// slovak platter for 2 persons (21 euros): dumplings with sheep cheese, 5 pirogi with sheep cheese, dumplings with cabbage and bacon // the platter looks medium in pictures but it is actually quite big and very filling. someone else mentioned that the 3 dishes are basically the same ingredients so it can feel like you're eating the same thing, which i agree.
my main complaint is that all the dishes were extremely salty. i think it was due to the fried bacon on the top, but it was wayyy too salty. overall, all dishes just tasted like a pile of very heavy carbs, cream, and salt. the dumplings with cabbage and bacon was maybe the most tolerable since it was the least heavy, but even so the food didn't have much flavor aside from salt and oil. we had quite upset stomachs after eating here.
// cabbage soup (4.50 euros) // this was probably the only decent dish i tried. it had a little bit of meat in it and cabbage which gave it the slight sourness. however, even this dish was too salty.
service was also quite slow. we kept waiting for our server to bring our check but she disappeared and then we had to ask multiple times.
overall, i was disappointed that this was my one meal while in bratislava. maybe if you really like latvian cuisine that's salty and oily/heavier meals, it may be for you. however, this was by far my least favorite meal i...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe worst eating experience ever! We traveled all the way from Spain to Slovakia, trying many restaurants recommended or highly rated on Google Maps along the way. Some restaurants required tipping, while others didnāt, but we voluntarily tipped at places with good service. Every restaurant we encountered was quite decentāuntil today, when we came across the most disgraceful one in Slovakia. This morning, we searched for nearby restaurants on Google and found this Bratislava Flagship Restaurant. The ratings and reviews seemed acceptable, so we decided to go there for lunch. The restaurant was quite busy, and as described, the restaurant was large and had a vintage vibe (but precisely because of its age, the indoor dining area had an unpleasant smell of food mixed with old woodāso Iād recommend sitting outside if possible). As for the food, Iām certain that the three popular dishes we ordered were pre-made. They were lukewarm, and anything that should have been crispy was soggy. The food deserved no more than 3 out of 10, and it was overpriced (three dishes and drinks totaled 40 euros). Now, hereās the main issue: The waiter provided no service whatsoever apart from bringing our foodāand even that was done with a scowl. When we asked for the bill, we waited nearly five minutes for him (by then, half the customers had already left). He finally came to our table, told us the total, and asked if we wanted to pay a 10% service fee. We said no, and he looked shocked, exclaiming, āBut I served you! Youāre not going to pay me a service fee?ā I firmly replied, āNo, weāre not.āThatās when he lost his temper. As he handed us the receipt, he snarled, āThen you are not allowed to look around the restaurant. You must leave immediatelyāno lingering!āI had originally wanted to check out the installation on the second floor, but all my interest vanished. We left the restaurant feeling as disgusted as if weād...
