One of the worst experiences ever! Came in for a breakfast on Sunday morning after all night of travelling, half full terrace, inside area was completely dead. ordered a coffee (which was fairly good) and a meal for myself and my aunt who I was dining with. After waiting for about 40 minutes for the food and seeing other tables getting theirs, I raised this with the server to see whether the food was coming anytime soon and she straight up blamed her colleague for forgetting to deliver the food.the corrected herself that she actually didn’t even send the order. alright, not ideal but may happen. She said the food will be ready in about 10 min so we ordered another coffee and some water as it was really hot morning. Fast forward another 20 min, a meal comes out - only for me though, not my aunt’s. Upon checking, she said it would be another 5-10 min for her eggs and we asked about the coffees and the water again as we had literally nothing on our table. After another while, my aunt had to literally barge in to get the water herself as she wasn’t feeling well at that point (but i still didn’t get my coffee.) At this stage, we cancelled one of the meals as she lost her appetite after about 1.5h of bickering with the staff when it will be ready and I only got mine - note i was dead hungry after i spent all night travelling to Slovakia. Tasted the meal, really good flavour, looking delicious and was excited to finally dive in, however, I noticed there was something moving in my dish, it was indeed a WORM, or well, at least three of them in my meal. No servers around so went straight to the open kitchen to get rather unprofessional response from the chef “how did it even get there?” and “ are you sure its worms?”. he offered the dish to be remade after some hesitations but i turned his offer down as i was pretty disgusted not just by the worms situation but the overall service. My aunt had then asked for the bill (keep in mind the coffee still didn’t arrive) only to see we were still charged for the millet porridge even though it was returned after two bites - ridiculous but they did remove it eventually. Two hours since we initially sat down, we still had to pay for the coffee which personally was still pretty awkward after such experience, being still hungry and wasting away a morning. we made sure to get the manager before we left to let her know about our struggle so they can improve the service but she made it very obvious that she doesn’t care about any of these and appeared somewhat annoyed. This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences not only in Bratislava but generally across the world. Staff was super useless, not owning up to their mistakes and didn’t even try to make the guests feel welcome.I understand mistakes are inevitable and can happen but the way how this particular case was handled was a shame to the beautiful Old Town’s food scene and even to the country of Slovakia. Places like this shouldn’t...

We walked past Café Mondieu and thought it looked like a lovely spot – so we decided to give it a try. We ordered a Greek frappé, an Affogato coffee, and a Lotus cake.

From the moment we sat down, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Mario, our waiter, was an absolute gem – so friendly, polite, attentive, and genuinely funny. The kind of person who instantly makes you feel at home.

And then there was Martin, who was behind the bar preparing our coffee and plating the dessert – and honestly, what a job he did! The coffee was perfectly made, clearly by someone who knows exactly what they’re doing. The presentation was beautiful, thoughtful, and full of little details – even the napkins were tied with little hemp or jute strings. Just such a charming and cozy touch.

The whole staff was very polite and kind – including the ladies working there – and the place was spotless. Clean restrooms, clean tables, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to sit back, enjoy a great coffee, people-watch, and just relax.

This café was truly one of the highlights of our stay in Bratislava – and Mario and Martin definitely deserve special mention for their outstanding service and care. Highly...

Although the staff worked really fast and were very accommodating I would not recommend this place as a whole. To start with all of our coffees were cold. We ordered one croissant with ham and cheese which was ok, a hot milk chocolate which I would recommend to get with berries, and eggs Benedict with ham. Initially, the waiter brought the dish with smoked salmon, we thought that maybe it was meant for another table so we told them and in less than 5 minutes they brought out the correct one. It was really not good, the hollandaise was more likely a sour mayonnaise and one egg was hard boiled. The worst thing though is that we realized that most likely the kitchen took out the salmon from the top of the bread and replaced it with ham because we all got the distinct aftertaste of the salmon as we were eating it. We told our waitress and she immediately offered a discount which of course we appreciated especially while comparing it with how other establishments react to criticism. A few hours later though all of us got a stomachache (and you can imagine what followed) and this was the only thing we had eaten all day so… yeah. Maybe it was a bad day for them, but I...
