Le Colonial — Restaurant in Košice

It was our second visit. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy. Not crowded. The music was nice and not loud. Very good service. Our waiter was flawless and did a great job! This time we tried Lamb fillet in priscuitto served with spinach mushed potatoes and red wine sauce. Huge thanks to the chief-cooker again! However, our impression was not definite. The lamb and sauce were great! However, the fried prosciutto combined with mashed potatoes killed the taste of the lamb unfortunately. We had to eat everything separately. But the sauce was great! What a horribly overrated place. There are plenty of good restaurants in Kosice and this is NOT one of them. Don't get me wrong, the decor is lovely but the food is bland and poorly cooked. My so-called coconut soup with prawns was clearly a chicken soup base, creamy with no hint of coconut. The prawns were nice, very nicely cooked though. The main, I chose the only vaguely interesting sounding thing from all the blandness - pork loin wrapped in proscuto wirh a wild mushroom sauce. The sauce was bland, the pork was thoroughly over cooked and the potatoes were just microwave jackets cut in half.

Oh, and the cucumber lemonade is just fizzy water and...

I came out with bitter feelings. The food was good but the service was not so. I was seated at a small table in the corner. It was so dark I had to use my flash light to read the menu. They never told me there was a lamp on the table or turned it on. I had to figure Iit out. I ordered a glass of wine and thought it was a generous pour. Well, they doubled the amount without telling me AND charged accordingly, which is dishonest. I observed the wait staff wasn't particularly friendly to other guests.
