Baščaršija is hands down one of the best places for ćevapi I’ve ever visited. I love that they offer three different portion sizes, which is a great option depending on your appetite. The meat is perfectly mixed, authentic Sarajevo style, and absolutely delicious.
We sat outside and had a fantastic experience—the waiter was kind, pleasant, and even shared a few jokes with us. He also brought a bowl of water for our dog, which was such a thoughtful touch. Service was very fast, and everything came out fresh.
Ćevapi are served on traditional plates with chopped onions, and we added a portion of kajmak that paired beautifully with the meat. But the real highlight for me was the lepinja (bread)—soft, flavorful, and perfectly soaking up the juices from the meat and kajmak without ever being dry.

They were making rude eye contacts and rolled their eyes as soon as they saw that we are young and knew that some of us will have student discounts, which obviously was not to their liking, thinking that they will lose money from us. Just one suggestion-if you don’t want to serve students with discounts, just withdraw from this campaign and do to not participate in it, because in Slovenia some restaurants willingly accept to participate in this and make students’ life easier.
