The Judgement Tower is a fortified medieval tower in the city of Maribor, Slovenia. An original tower built on the site in the early 14th century secured the southwestern corner of the city walls. It was completely rebuilt in 1540, with the addition of a conical roof which burned down in the 17th century.

It’s so quiet, so clean, and there are so many swans here. You can take a peaceful walk along the river and admire the different bridges. You can see the city with views from all sides. Before reaching Titov Bridge, you can stop by a wine bar, enjoy the sunny day, the falling maple leaves, and beautiful music. Swans will swim up to you, hoping for food, but you’re not allowed to feed them! I saw people feeding them, but I also saw a sign saying it’s not allowed.

Vreme posete: druga polovina jula 2024. god. Sudnja kula je jedna od posećeniji srednjovekovnih znamenitosti u Mariboru. Nalazi se u centru grada, na obali reke Drave. U kuli se sudilo ženama koje su se u prošlim vekovima bavile tzv veštičarenjem i zbog takvih dela im se ovde presuđivalo. U kuli se nisu donosile smrtne kazne. Kula je izgrađena u renesansnom stilu do drugog sprata. Dodatna dva sprata su izgrađena u XIX veku. Sudnja kula je pretpela požar 1937.godine, ali je opet obnovljena 1950tih godina. Ovo je jedna od kula koja je prkosila vremenu i ostala sačuvana. Nakon Drugog svetskog rata je možda i poslednji put modifikovana i upravo je takva ostala do dan danas. U šetnji centrom Maribora i obalom Drave, obratite pažnju i na ovu kulu i posetite je.

The court tower is a nice building, it has been nicely renovated, in the case of a tour, there is also a description of the history of this building under the tower. In the past, this tower was used as a warehouse and port.

Sodni stolp ali obrambni stolp mestnega obzidja je bil zgrajen leta 1310, da bi zaščitili mesto pred nezaželenimi vsiljivci. Večkrat je pogorel in je bil skozi leta večkrat na novo zgrajen, kar se odraža v njegovem videzu. Po drugi svetovni vojni je izgubil svoj renesančni slog, vendar je nekako ohranil svoj videz vse do danes. Sodni stolp je dobil ime po sodbah izrečenih v stolpu, saj so v tistih časih še preganjali čarovnice. Sodbe so bile izdane tistim, ki so bile priznane kot čarovnice, vendar smrtne obsodbe niso bile nikoli izvršene.
