Old Vine Museum — Attraction in Maribor

We just visited the Old Vine Museum and had an absolutely wonderful experience! My husband and I were both truly impressed. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the incredibly friendly staff – Barbara, who explained everything with great enthusiasm and clarity. Her kindness and knowledge really made the visit special.

The museum is small but rich in history, with engaging video and photo content that beautifully tells the story of the world’s oldest vine and more. At the end of our visit, we were offered a tasting of Laški Rizling wine, specially selected by the current Wine Queen – and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! My husband shares the same opinion – we both found the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable.

Wirklich beeindruckend, wie man im „Museum der ältesten Weinrebe der Welt“ das Kunststück zuwege bringt, mit modernster multimedialer Technik in einem bezaubernden sechsminütigen Animationsvideo – mit einem Papagei als Präsentator – ein halbes Jahrtausend der Entstehungsgeschichte Maribors und seiner Weinkultur kurzweilig und zugleich tiefgründig Revue passieren zu lassen, und anschließend, je nach individuellem Bedarf, auf sechs Touchscreens entsprechend zu vertiefen versteht. Beeindruckend vor allem, wie einerseits Erzherzog Johanns Verdienste als Initiator moderner Weinbaumethoden in der damaligen Untersteiermark und gleichzeitig auch die Bedeutung slowenischer Handwerker, Intellektueller, Musiker und Nationaldichter und ihr Bezug zum Wein mit wissenschaftlicher Kompetenz und Herzblut gewürdigt werden.
