The Plague Column, or Trinity Column, is a Holy Trinity column located on the Graben, a street in the inner city of Vienna, Austria. Erected after the Great Plague epidemic in 1679, the Baroque memorial is one of the best known and most prominent sculptural artworks in the city.

Plague monument on the main square of Maribor. What you can see is replication of original. Original monument is safely stored in warehouses of museum Maribor. It's a beautiful sculpture and definitely you need to see it. Plague killed almost 2/3 civilians on the end of 17th century. Plague monument was made as reminder of those terrible times.

Vreme posete: druga polovina jula 2024. god. Na sredini Glavnog trga u Mariboru se nalazi spomenik „Marijin znak“, koji simboliše prestanak velike bolesti - kuge, koja je vladala u XVII veku. Reč je o stubu koji je podignut u znak zahvalnosti završetka epidemije, koja je Maribor zadesila 1680.-tih godina i odnela trećinu stanovništva. Stanovnici Maribora su “slavili” dan kada se kuga završila i u znak sreće i zahvalnosti su podigli stub sa likom Device Marije. Prvi spomenik zahvalnosti je sagrađen 1681.godine, a ovaj današnji, u XVIII veku. Smatra se da je ovo najbolji primer barokne umetnosti u Sloveniji. Oko pozlaćenog kipa Device Marije, Božije majke, raspoređeno je ukupno šest svetaca. Ovo je jedna od značajnih znamenitosti Maribora, koja treba da se vidi i doživi.

Really cool and interesting plague column in the heart of the city. A reminder of past hardships and the will to overcome them and move on without forgetting. It adds a nice bit of beauty to this already interesting city.

Cute town with friendly people, nice food, music in the streets and wine in glasses. It's easy to navigate and it's difficult to get lost. Definitely would like to come back to Maribor.

Jedan od simbola Maribora koji se može videti u svakoj turističkoj brošuri koja promoviše ovaj grad. Kao i u mnogim gradovima srednje Evrope, stub je podignut na glavnom gradskom trgu i posvećen je Bogorodici (u nekim gradovima je umesto Bogorodice Sveto Trojstvo). Stub je podignut krajem 17. veka, a današnji oblik je dobio u 18. veku i predstavlja jedan od najlepših baroknih dela u Sloveniji. Na centralnom stubu je Bogorica i okružena je sa 6 svetitelja. Spomenik je brižljivo rekonstruisan i održavan.

A very nice plague pillar in the center of the city. It is a historical monument to the past. The statue is renovated and the surroundings are nice and clean.
