The MOST disappointing experience and LOWEST professionalism and QUALITY restaurant in Piran! I came with my wife and 3 children of 9 years old by car 150 km from Kamnik Slovenija, after visiting Postojna cave, to Piran, to eat freshly prepared sea food. I ordered 1 grilled mixed fish plate of 1 sea bass, 1 sea bream, shrimps and squid worth 42 €, 1 extra dish of grilled shrimps worth 20 € and 1 dish of mussels worth 10 €. NOT ONE OFF THE DISHES WERE FRESHLY PREPARED BUT FROZEN. Even the shrimps were not defrosted and where served cold. When I attended the waiter to the facts, he answered that the shrimps get very fast cold after serving? He later admitted that only the shrimps were frozen. For the rest of the prepared dishes he claimed they were 100% fresh, what is not true. All the dishes were bland and muddy of taste. The only fresh thing on the table were the refreshing handkerchiefs. I have eaten fresher and better prepared fish in countries that do not have seas at all. The waiters were loudly ordering drinks from the table of the guests to one another, and moving heaters loudly from one end of the restaurant to the other end, to keep there local guests warm and satisfied. After all that the head of the hall restaurant went reordering tables, chairs and flower pots. I flipped and said I was keeping my children calm and silenced not to disturb the other guests while he was making an uproar. When I said to him he is making more noise than my 3 children together and is disturbing the guests in the restaurant, he rudely and unprofessionally answered that he is the head of the hall restaurant and he can do so? The owner of at least 85 years old was mute and even he did not apologize. He only said to his staff to leave the situation and go back to the kitchen and not to get into an argue with me. They also counted me 3,20 € for a place mat I did not order and did not get. One BIG SHAME and BIG F for this restaurant. I will NEVER go back to Piran in my whole life. That's for sure! 85 € for mario and his luigies was not worth nothing of it but I still tipped the waiter from Banja Luka 10 € because he was the only one who tried to settle the situation. The only ones who are praising this restaurant are local tourist guides. I don't have to mention I've worked in some exclusive restaurants and don't have to teach these clowns how to do there job, what a...

This place is a complete mixed bag. Mostly tasty if overpriced food and watch out for additional protien in the form of flies in your wine!Location is amazing, sunset was fantastic. The mains came literally as they said on the menus (Ie. Grilled squid was just grilled squid) which was tasty, if a bit oily side and expensive for what you got. Sides and wine on the other hand... We ordered the house white, which came with addition 5 fruit flies, When this was bought up by us, the reply was a grunt, and the wine was exchanged for another house white, but with 4 fruitflies second time around!! We ordered a side of chips (also very good) and a side of grilled veg, which was 6 Euros for a total of 8 slices total of aubergine/pepper/onion/tomato, also very oily and family flavourless. One member of staff very wonderful, chatted in many languages to the guests and clearly had excellent charisma. Totally let down by all other members of staff who seemed to not want to be there, and came across as...

AVOID - OUR WORST MEAL IN SLOVENIA BY A MILE - AVOID

I tend to avoid large restaurants on the fronts of places, but it was Sunday night & not a lot was open. It started out OK, the Sauvignon white was pricey but nice. It was the food that was the DISASTER. The Scampi buzzara was just a handful of langoustines in a bland soup, I think they had been microwaved because they were so hot they burnt your fingers. We also had the Paris Style Prawns which were just battered prawns out of the freezer, deep fried & chucked on white rice. It was pitiful. We complained & got nowhere, I waited an age for the bill & while glancing up at the kitchen, I could see the chef eating out of a customers bowl of chips before it left for a diners table...... Just about sums the place off.

Oh, they wouldn't knock a cent off & charged 1.60E for the bread we didn't ask for!

We had an unforgettable family dinner at Pavel and it was easily the highlight of our time in Piran. The location is stunning — right by the sea, with a perfect view of the sunset over the Adriatic. You really can’t ask for a better setting. The seafood was incredibly fresh and expertly. For an appetizer we ordered the beef noodle soup and for the main dish we had some mussels and the Seafood plater. Even the kids loved everything, especially the homemade desserts! What really made the evening special was the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel like part of the family. You can tell this place takes pride in its tradition, quality, and hospitality. If you’re in Piran and looking for an authentic seafood experience with a view, Pavel is an absolute must. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Slovenia!

It is currently my favorite seaside restaurant on Slovenian coast. Their focus is on relaxed dining environment and quality local food. They really want to make their food shine, so they carefully choose how to prepair them not to please general tourists, but a sea food lover. For instance I asked them why their fried squid (on picture 2) looked less crumb coated compared to other places, and the answer was that you should taste the calamari, not the bread crumbs and oil. They use same philosophy on all of their dishes. Service simply said is a 10/10 too. They are friendly, chatty, like to pull jokes… great to get you into good mood, might get a little loud when restaurants fills up. They bought me with a pelinkovec shot on house after my meal. Pavel restaurant is a must for everyone to try out!
