A Sunday lunch that turned into a very unpleasant experience. We were guided to our table by a very rude and seemingly irritated waitress, throwing the menus on our table and then walking away. We were then left for about 25 minutes before the waitress came around to order drinks. Noteworthy: the noise in this place is deafening. I could barely hear the two people who sat less than a metre away from me, while we were sitting and trying to have a conversation, looking through the menus. Our drinks then took another 30 minutes to arrive: a coffee, milkshake and an iced latte - which tasted average. The coffee was ice cold, milkshake had melted and the iced latte tasted strange. We then ordered food about 15 minutes later, and I asked for a beef burger. To my surprise, the waitress told me they didn't serve the beef burger but only the chicken burger? Huh? You're a restaurant? On a Sunday? How can you not have something as simple as a beef burger - which is on your menu! Laughable. I ordered something else and we waited for an eternity - we waited almost an hour for food. We didn't order anything exotic - 2 chicken burgers and a bowl with yogurt and honey. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. The food is overpriced for what you get and very underwhelming. In conclusion - there's nothing special about this place. The service is horrible and slow and the waitresses are very unprofessional and seem irritated and they seem like they don't want to help you. I wouldn't recommend this place, and I'd think twice before visiting this place again...
Read moreMy family and I have visited your tygervalley café on two separate occasions as we are generally fond of the Woolies Café experience. However, both visits despite differing in how busy the café was, were disappointing for the same reasons. On our first visit, we assumed the delays and lack of availability of menu items were due to the busyness of the café. However, on our second visit, even with the café being fairly quiet, we encountered the exact same issues:
A significant number of menu items were unavailable (no pancakes, no ginger tea, no English muffins for the Eggs Benedict, and no chicken sausage). Service was inattentive, with staff often gathered in groups chatting rather than attending to customers. While your menu is impressive, it becomes rather frustrating when most of the items are consistently unavailable. Additionally, the service experience was not aligned with the standards we typically associate with the Woolworths brand, though the pricing remains firmly in line with those standards.
We share this feedback in the hopes that it will be taken constructively. We would love to continue supporting the café but do hope for a more consistent and customer focused...
Read moreI am utterly astonished by the terrible service that we received today. After waiting 25 minutes for cappuccino and a slice of cake that should take 10 minutes MAX, and being disappointed with their extremely pricey and distasteful coconut cake, our waitress gaslighted us by insisting that there has never been a 15% discount on their coffees, when its clearly advertised to be 15% on their menus.
The manager then came to explain that the discount percentage has recently changed to 10% even though it is still advertised as 15% and that she could do nothing on the system to change it to what is still being advertised. As a an ex-manager of a restaurant I know this has to utter BS, but I decided to let it go.
To top all of this off, we gave in to dividing our bill in half, but the manager proceeded to add a tip without our consent, making us pay R125 for a coffee and a slice of cake.
This experience has left such a bitter taste that I unfortunately won’t be coming back to this woolies cafe nor will I recommend it to anyone. I expected better...
