We went here for a family birthday celebration and boy was it an experience none of us ever want to repeat.
The prices at this restaurant place it as a "high end" dining establishment and that's about the only thing that's high end about it. From the service to most of the food, it was an awful experience.
Service: Only four of the six guests had arrived when they started serving a pre meal course (this was before we had even gone through the menu), even though we had let them know earlier on that there were still two people coming. When questioned about this, we were told not to worry, that the last two would also be served the course as soon as they arrived. This did not happen, until half way through the meal, when I noticed that they hadn't in fact received it yet. Right through out the meal, we kept having to get the attention of our waitress. Our waitress was like a genie. Food would arrive and she would disappear before we had a chance to ask any questions about the food or anything really.
Food: The meal started off with a shot glass of mango lassi (pre-meal course) which was really fantastic. And we ordered the starter platter which was also amazing - the chicken was so tender and flavourful, the lamb cutlets were a little spicy but tasty and every other morsel on the platter was great. These two dishes really set the mood for us. We were all incredibly excited about the main course! So it was a real shame when not a single one of the main courses dishes we ordered was good. I don't think anyone actually finished their dish. The meals lacked flavour. The briyani tasted like a bunch of raw spices were just tossed in with the rice and the curries had no depth of flavour or punch. For dessert we ordered gulam jamun - two gulab jamun balls and some ice cream - nothing memorable but at least it was edible.
Needless to say, won't be going...
Read moreOur experience at this establishment was totally unpleasant. After contacting the Taj Hotel repeatedly to enquire about availability of this restaurant and their menu choices, to which the receptionist was extremely unfriendly, and the phone at the restaurant never being answered, we decided to take a chance go for a quick dessert. We arrived, and seated ourselves, as there was no one to seat us. After asking to be seated we waited 15 minutes before receiving a menu, to which we observed that their offerings on desserts had decreased exponentially.
We then proceeded to ordered our chocolate decadence dessert, and waited another 20 minutes, and what arrived was a tiny little dessert which was extremely disappointing. We ate, and waited another 15 minutes for our check, to which we had to get up and ask our waiter for.
After leaving this establishment we actually proceeded to McDonald's, and had a desert which was 6 times less expensive, more filling and better value for money, as what we had paid for was not even the size of a small Bar One.
The moral of this story, if establishments of this 5 star caliber want to survive, they need to start focusing on customer service, and maybe not rest on their laurels of a 5 star rating which was...
Read moreI would probably give a 4.0 stars review for the food, but the service and overall experience dragged it down to 3 stars.
the service was quite slow. It took 1h to get the starter and about 1h20m to get the main dish. We had a reservation at 9pm so it wasn’t rush hour the waiters are not really paying attention to details in my opinion. (Examples: I was alone at the table waiting for my boyfriend and for 30 minutes nobody asked if I would like something to drink while waiting or if I would like to order for both of us - which I really wanted to do :-( ; when they came to pour us more water, they only filled my boyfriend’s glass even though mine was completely empty) the food is not very tasty. We had a butter chicken which is one of my fav dishes when I eat at an indian restaurant, but the taste was rather fade :( more like a chicken with a tomato sauce. The only really tasty dish at the table was a dhal, but overall quite disappointing unfortunately
Note: they have a dressing code so don’t come in shorts or you will not be able to...
