A day out in Town and we came upon FOOD INN INDIA. It was late afternoon. From the outside it looks dark but going in, it's a large space set up with tables and chairs and the more intimate booths. You place your order at the cashier, hand in your order slip and it gets dished up if you eating in...or you can have takeaway. We ordered mutton curry with roti and butter chicken with Naan. You can opt for rice instead. Food was brought to our table. There was a carrot, onion and yoghurt salad(sambal) and a dahl sauce with the food. The portions are good with enough pieces of meat in the bowl. The food was really, really nice. I really enjoyed my butter chicken and the Naan was fresh and tasteful and a decent size. The chicken pieces were a bit dry but the sauce made up for it. The mutton curry was tasteful...nicely spiced and the meat was tender. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the portions were enough...there wasn't space for a dessert. It is a quick in, quick out restaurant. They have plastic cutlery as I think many cutomers opt for the takeaway option. The only disappointment was the toilets. I used the last of the toilet paper, the floor was wet and the basin looked dirty. I realised it was a stain on the basin. I often judge the establishment by their toilet facilities. The staff were friendly, left us alone to eat and came to clear the table. They are reasonably priced for what you get. I'd recommend them if you in Long...
Read moreI had an extremely bad experience. The food lies out the entire day, exposed to staff who serve over the same food, they dish for all their customers. The staff are very unprofessional and wrap your takeaways as if presentation is unnecessary (a paper that is squashed around your meal). You pay the same price for the food if you eat at the restaurant or if you purchase a takeaway, but management refuses to serve you salad with your meal, if it is a takeaway (saying that they make no profit if salad is provided), but they can only serve you a complimentary salad if you are seated to eat, because the steel plates are divisional and it is cheaper to serve their customers with a poorly crafted salad, rather than to serve any other condiments. The lamb biriyani is R70 per portion, and just five small pieces of meat is placed on the side, topped with a pile of rice. Every meat or chicken item is counted and do not exceed five pieces if the portion is small or three-four pieces if the meat or chicken size is cut in a larger portion. This is such a mass production restaurant, as if only to cater of lower income customers, who they feel does not deserve better. Their butter chicken was overly sweet almost to camouflage the cream from curdling. They have zero customer etiquette and serve you as if you are a prisoner that has to succumb to whatever they dish up. Overall rating, poor serve, poor customer etiquette and poor...
Read moreThis was by far the worst experience I've had with a place serving Cuisine like this..
Myself and a colleague placed a phone order at 11:10, we arrived just before 11:20, paid for the food and they said 10 minutes for waiting time...
We sat and sat while no one was preparing the food. The staff, the service, everything was terrible.. The chef that was supposedly going to prepare our food, proceeded to hush me up after asking when the food was coming and told me to sit down😤😡
This infuriated me even more as it was already 11:50 and he only started bringing some Ingredients out. It wasnt even that busy.. other people came and left.. some meals were in the warmer, whatever was already prepared...
We asked for our money back and left... I will never come back or recommend this place to anyone.. Management should check their staff and their attitude for being terribly rude and making us wait 40 minutes before deciding to leave... We were on our lunch break and wasted it standing there... we went to Eastern Food Bizarre, got the same food and was out in less than 5 minutes and the food was more than R90.00 cheaper for all the meals collectively and also tastes fantastic!
Please be very sure before...
