I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the Christmas dinner experience my family and I had at the Cullinan Peach Tree. As a loyal Black Sun Rewards member, I had high expectations based on the standard of service I have experienced at other hotels in your group. Unfortunately, this occasion fell far short of those expectations.
From the outset, the event was poorly managed. My family, including our 8-day-old granddaughter, had to wait in a cramped space for an extended period before being called to our table. There was no communication from the staff during this wait, and the welcome drinks, which could have helped ease the inconvenience, were neither offered nor accessible.
When we were finally seated—after being mistakenly taken to the wrong table—we experienced further delays. It took repeated requests before a waiter attended to us, and even then, there was no clarity on the evening’s program or offerings. Drinks menus were not proactively provided, and starters were served unevenly across tables, adding to the disorganization.
The physical environment also left much to be desired. The venue was uncomfortably hot, and we were informed that the air conditioning was not functioning. This added to our discomfort and detracted from what should have been a pleasant dining experience.
The buffet service was similarly disappointing. Plates and empty dishes were left unattended on tables, requiring us to ask for their removal. There were complaints from kitchen staff about poor communication with wait staff, resulting in delays in replenishing dishes. The lack of adequate serving utensils—only two tongs for the desserts, with one seemingly misplaced—further compounded the frustration.
To add to our dissatisfaction, the food itself was unimpressive and did not meet the standards one would expect from an establishment of your reputation.
Overall, this experience was far from what we anticipated for a special family occasion. I feel compelled to share this feedback in the hope that it leads to improvements in the future.

Some staff members went beyond the call of duty whilst others were lack lustre. It took about 45 minutes to get the right bottle of chardoney as most items were out of stock. The curry was very hot(chilli powder) whilst at times my guests had to wait to be served at the carvery station, as the chef was not at the carvery station. The oxtail was tough . I celebrated my 33rd birthday there on 24th January 2017 and i had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly and some go the extra mile to make you feel welcome (CHEF WESLEY), he is the best and it wouldn't be the same without him. The piano player (Mike), played Happy Birthday for me as the waitress brought out my cake. The Decor is elegant and romantic at the same time.
