Simply Asia Durbanville — Restaurant in Durbanville

Utterly appalled by the service. The worst simply Asia in South Africa. The service is poor, management is poor and disrespectful and over all they will never see me or my family ever again. I will express two experiences I have had at the restaurant but over all there have been MANY a times I have waited over a hour for my food. This is only but two accounts I am describing.

I went to this Simply Asia a few months ago as I always use to with my family. Apon arrival we placed our sushi order and 1 hour and 30 minutes later we got our food. I then complained and got offer free dessert. For those who don't know this is what they offer people for anything they do wrong. After spending triple the time I wanted to I declined the offer and was almost offended they thought that was sufficient for my troubles. I decided to never return especially after the manager that night had laughed in my face countless times and been so disrespectful to me, I was done.

4 months later and I wanted to give them another chance. We place our order and being one of two tables in the entire venue I expect something different this time. I would say too my surprise but I wasn't surprised at all, I received my food 1 hour and 20 minutes later. I was absolutely fuming. We get our sushi and they completely messed up our orders. My one friend is vegaterian and her entire plate was salmon filled sushi, my cousin order tempura prawns and got California rolls (which is double the price.) I complained to the manager and was just offered a thousand apologies and told she will get back to me, she just wanted to talk to her staff quickly. 10 minutes later I was approached and apologised to and that was it. Nothing was giving to me for my trouble. I was simply told "sorry." I left simply Asia Durbanville having paid double the amount I wanted to, having spend triple the time I wanted to and having been made very late to my plans because of the wait. My lift home had to leave as he was late to work and my friend and I had to order an Uber home because of this entire experience. I paid R44 for my Uber home (that is extra money I did not have to spend but because of Simply Asia Durbanville being unable to run a restaurant to the standard of any decent place in the country this was what it came to.) We have been visiting this Simply Asia for a while, and never have we received service, but today was by far the worst and the final straw. We will never return. Sat for close to 20 minutes, we were acknowledged at the door and told to seat ourselves. Okay, that happens. We pick a table, well within the view of the manager, and apparently the owner? Grumpy AF lady in a blue top, gym pants and sunglasses on her head. As soon as we sat down we noticed the tables around us looking around and uncomfortable. The kind of looking around that means they have been waiting for something. At least two other tables complained about slow service/no service. We got up, got stared at, still did not get offered any kind of service. We mentioned on our way out to the manager, casually leaning on the sushi bar, that this was really the worst we have ever experienced, and all we got was attitude. Kitchen staff was sitting in the kitchen, which explains why food here has never been up to standard as expected from Simply Asia. Received a text message promoting their special for”Thai Speciality and Noodle Dishes” discounted to R80 for chicken and R90 for beef. Sit down only. So thought to have a meal there. We don't live in the Durbanville area so we drove much further than where our nearest Simply Asia is.

Upon arrival, staff weren’t even properly informed of this special. Waitress Bulelwa took 15+ minutes to come to our table (only one other table there at the time so she wasn't busy) to take our order. Noisy kitchen staff too, as per usual - had the same experience the last time we were there for a meal.

After table was cleared, waitress nowhere to be seen for another 10mins so we eventually went to the till to pay.

Upon paying the bill, guess what? Even though our meals were listed under the Thai Specialities, apparently they were not included in the specials. Misleading advertising much Simply Asia? Not cool.

As mentioned, we have eaten here before, and despite the food being ok, we wont support you again, definitely not this store. Don't mislead your customers with specials and train your wait staff better. The service here is terrible. This time and all the...
