So we went there got the calamari tubes and well it sucked not to be that customer but it tasted real bad. Tasted like when you put chips in old oil. The waiters are very friendly but did forget 2 items we ordered entirely so the great smiles and greetings doesnt really bring me the cuppachino or onion rings we odered though. Overall seems like a great place with more of a fine dine feel. If your looking to eat yourself full youd be way better off elsewhere as the portions are like those english movies. For the less money i can eat much better calamari at ocean basket and get much more to eat and im a slim guy so if your a big person prepare to spend 500 plus per person to eat enough. Place is for sure for the more upperclass just that the food defitnitely on this day was not upperclass at all. The patato slices were great though. If you ask for white sauce you get this tiny little bowl mot even enough for the chips you got. Presentation was great.

Went for an early supper with our son visiting from KZN. What a wonderful meal. Served by I think one of our best servers /waiters - Vincent. He knew the menu. Especially his cuts of meat. Absolutely delightful meal. Charming and knowledgeable. Great job. Thank you Vincent. We will be back. 🥂🍴🍷

2022: My mom and I went for lunch on this day at the Hussar Grill in Durbanville. We really enjoyed every minute there. The mood, music, decor, service and most importantly the food and drinks. I was told that their burgers are the best, but to today I got to experience it for myself. They also have nice menu options. They didn't disappoint at all, it's evident in my pics. 2024: There is, however, a decline now much later in their food quality. I have been to a different restaurant like Grandwest and found their beef burger bun to always be soggy. I gave some positive feedback to our waiter. My husband had the same experience with his burger bun(without salad) at the Durbanville restaurant recently.

For those of you who knows what it is a woman on Menopause goes through , several times a day . This experience I'm about to share with will give you an idea as to how I was wowed by the staff and owner of this amazing restaurant. My wife and I was taken to lunch by friends on Friday the 10th of Jan . Our reservation was done online at about 13h30 for 15h00. May I share that this was the easiest online booking we have ever had made , completely hassle free. We arrived on time , and was greeted by Robbie , a kind , gentle , articulated and very knowledgeable young man , who also turned out to be our waiter . Unfortunately for us ,15h00 was also the time for Durbanville to have their scheduled loadshedding ( thnx Eskom) . This however did not put a hurdle in the stride of the operations of this establishment. Like true professionals they went about delivering the best service I have ever received . To top this , their food was absolutely amazing . Talk about melt in your mouth steaks , meat falling of the bone lamb shank, food fit for a king. The bit that wowed me most though .... my wife is going through a very difficult Menopause period , with hot flushes and cold shivers hitting her multiple times in a matter of minutes . With the electricity off , the fans and aircon in the restuarant was not functioning. Robbie picked up on my wife's distress and came over to see how he could make her stay a bit more bearable . He listened , walked away and returned with plastic pocket filled with ice to cool her down . Needless to say , this did the trick . The owner visited our table a few moments later with a similar bag of ice , only this time it was vacuum sealed , and she had the doors and all the windows of the restaurant opened for maximum airflow. These little touches was not at all necessary, given the fact that this establishment already scored maximum points in all the tick boxes . But yet they exceeded our expectations, by going out of their way to make our problem their problem . Hats off to you guys , your worth much more than...

My girlfriend and I decided to celebrate her birthday and make it a romantic evening at The Hussar Grill. This being my first time at this restaurant, and based on the reviews we have seen, there was a great deal of positive expectation from our side. The ambience and service were on point, and I commend them for their amazing service. We knew, based on reviews, what to expect, but unfortunately the food left a bit to be desired. We both ordered the ribeye (300g), I chose medium and my girlfriend chose medium rare. The food was cooked to perfection, however it lacked flavour and the cut we got both had far too much sinew. We spent a fair amount of time taking pieces of fat out of our mouths to place on our plates. We tried to finish what we had, but we both took the cuts home for her dog. I know, it sounds harsh, but I suppose the disappointment we felt was the tipping point because we thought this was most likely an unusual situation due to the amazing reviews of others. We still would rate the restaurant for the overall experience, but we left feeling less than impressed. I'm sure the restaurant is truly great and our experience isn't common, it was just sad that it happened on her birthday and as part of our romantic evening. We may go back at some point to see if this was a once off, because we both felt the restaurant would deserve...

We arrived 5 minutes early (7:25) which annoyed the waitress. Despite only being about 20% full we were shown to a table that had remnants of a birthday celebration still on, jammed in a corner, next to a guy from a couple wearing his best nylon football shirt. I declined the table and we were offered a table right next to the front door Eventually the waitress understood we would like a decent table and allowed us to walk to the rear of the floor.

After what felt like forever, we were offered to place a drinks order, which took even longer than our wait and arrived without ice

Our starter and main were as good as would be expected

I chose a liquor coffee to finish the night and was served one where the cream was off !!! The worst end to an average experience. I physically left with a bad taste in my mouth.

This was my 6th visit to the venue, had it been my first - there would not have been any subsequent. Both my wife and I were deeply disappointed and won’t be returning for future events and celebrations.

I assume the management may have changed, there was ZERO professionalism there, and nobody obviously in charge with whom I could have discussed the issues.

Hussar Grill : DO NOT send the generic copy and paste response that you have put under all the other reviews. ...
