Silver Creek Spur — Restaurant in Durbanville

So it was my first time attending this spur as it was new to village square so me and boyfriend and has father wanted to try this new spur out, so I ordered a burger and chips and my beef patty was completely off smelt like blue cheese, as the burger with everything on was too big and messy to eat with my hands so I used a knife and fork and I cut a piece smothered in sauce and it tasted sour and weird then I decided to taste the beef patty on its own without all the good bits packed on top of it and as I lifted it up to eat that piece, it smelt like blue cheese and I asked my boyfriend to smell it and he said it smells very bad, I called over the waiter and explained that the beef patty was off, he removed my plate and took it too the kitchen and said that he will call the manager so when the manager (Lady) came over she said, I believe there was a problem with your burger, I said yes it is off, the lady said that is very weird as it was frozen and I felt like she didn’t believe and so I explained how I knew it was off and she calmly said that she didn’t believe it, then I asked her where is the burger she told me that it was thrown away already, I asked her if she had smelt it or tasted it, seeing as she didn’t believe me, her attitude was not good enough me as she came off very rude and not even a apology as she walked away and it seemed like she didn’t actually care, this made me angry because i wasn’t lying and im so thankful that I noticed that the burger was off as I don’t want to be sick as I had to work the next day, so about 10 minutes I had another manager (a man)he was very sincere and apologetic so this calmed me as he said that maybe that batch of beef burgers that were frozen he will send back to their supplier and that I can get another burger to take away, so I ordered a take away rib burger as everyone were finished eating, and they removed the beef burger from the bill which I appreciate and the rib burger was good 👍 so yes it made up for everything but I’m surprised that it left the kitchen smelling that way, no one smelt it as they were cooking it,Anyway I won’t be coming back unfortunately as this experience made me feel very uncomfortable 😳 Spur was my favourite place as a child and never had a problem but now I’m completely put off and...

Terrible Service, Unprofessional Management – Extremely Disappointed

I ordered from Spur via Mr D a few hours ago and specifically left a note asking for Spur’s pink sauce to be added in a container — because I don’t eat the food without that sauce. Just to make 100% sure they saw the note, I even called the restaurant directly after placing my order. The lady on the phone confirmed that they received my request and would include the sauce in a container.

Fast forward to delivery… Wrong sauce. Not pink sauce. Not even anything I’ve ever seen before. I was furious. I called Spur again and told the manager. He apologized, said he’d call me back and get the driver to bring me the correct sauce.

Nobody called me back. A few minutes goes by. I phoned again. Now a completely different manager picks up, has no idea what I’m talking about, and starts giving me a speech about how they charge extra for sauce in containers — completely missing the point. He also claimed there was “no note” with my order, even though the first manager confirmed they saw the note — PLUS I called them to confirm it verbally.

Again, I was told I’d get a call back in 5-10 minutes. That was hours ago. Still nothing. No sauce, no help, cold food, and completely wasted money — because I couldn’t even eat it.

This is absolutely shocking service, especially coming from a manager. No communication, no follow-through, no professionalism. If I could give zero...

Where to start, we arrived got seated and were half way through our drinks before they finally brought us our menu. We ordered the cheddamelt burgers. When they came it all looked perfect, but as we were to discover, looks can be deceiving. It started with the chip sauce, something we buy a lot of for the house so know very well, when we tried to pour it, it was so watered down we almost flooded our plates with a disgusting flavorless sauce. Tests done when we got home showed we had to dilute the sauce 3 to one with water to achieve the same consistency we had in the restaurant, the chips were so stale we dared not eat them. The burger was next, 1/3 of the patty sticking out covered in a thin layer of cheddamelt sauce, when we opened the buns to move the patty onto bun correctly we found that the sauce on the outside was the only sauce there was, not even a single drop of sauce was present on the 2/3rds of the patty that was hidden.. The bun was clearly baked about 25 years ago and kept frozen till today. As for the sauce well there was no evidence of any cheese on it so it should actually be called a melt sauce. All this disgustingness for R79.90, never again would rather go to Steers and pay half the price for a decent burger on a fresh role, with tasty chips and plenty of sauce.
