Upon walking in to the restaurant, we had to wait 5 minutes after I went to a waiter to tell them that we had booked a table for 7 people (for my boyfriendâs birthday). The waiter I spoke to, did not come back and I had to go inside the restaurant to call another waiter so we could get to our table that we had BOOKED.
When ordering drinks, our waiter did not inform us that they did not have any sprite zero. When he served our drinks, we asked for the sprite zero, only to find out that they apparently do not have stock.
After that, 45 minutes went by and my boyfriend had to call the waiter so that we can order food. When he walked inside the restaurant, 3 waiters were busy chatting and laughing at the tills. He insisted that they can send us a waiter so we can place our order.
Our âwaiterâ did not once come to our table to ask if we want to order something else to drink.
On the arrival of the food my boyfriendâs potato dumplings didnât arrive.
I went inside to talk to a waiter/manager, and I had to wait +-15 minutes before being assisted, after our waiter walked passed me 3 times while I was waiting at the front desk (and âdid not see meâ).
Besides that, we were sitting outside. After I had spent +-15 minutes inside waiting for someone to assist, my food was ice cold (and I had hardly eaten anything!)
No one asked to return the food to warm it, so I guess Iâll be having my cold dinner on my own (which was supposed to be my boyfriend birthday dinner) at Kaapstadt Brauhaus Durbanville.
Eventually, my boyfriendâs potato dumplings arrived after everyone had finished eating, where he said he obviously no longer wants it because he does not have any food left nor any drink (as the waiter still hasnât asked for another round).
Eventually, we had to ask the waiter to fetch our empty drinks, plates and to empty out ashtrays.
When the waiter arrived back at our table, he did not apologize for the unacceptable service. He just cleared the table and walked away. Nevermind asking us if we would like to have another round of drinks, desert or the bill.
As a regular customer Iâm HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with this service and I will not be returning to this restaurant any time soon. Also, I do not recommend this restaurant, as it was bot a busy night and it seemed as if no one cared about...

Read moreWe were invited to lunch, and after googling and checking reviews, we decided to visit Kapstad Brauhaus in Durbanville. We as a group left with mixed feelings. I had ordered the PORK SCHNITZEL, which I enjoyed. The other lady ordered a SCHWEINEFLEISCH PIZZA (pulled pork, red pepper, feta and rocket) @ R164. You could hardly see the pizza for the rocket, and you had to look hard to find the pork. One gentleman had the CURRYWURST. The curry was a bit strong to his taste. Not to big an issue. The other gentleman, ordered the HAUSEWURST PLATTER @ R174. But it appears the waite waas not paying attention... While placing orders, we asked about recommendations, and also about the Eisbein, but did not order it, bearing in mind it was R218 (and we were guests). When the waiter delivered the food to the table, there was no Housewurst Platter, but a portion of Eisbein! And the waiter told us we had ordered it! Maybe he should have read our order back to us, to confirm he had it right! The place was not busy, there were only two other tables with guests when we arrived, and one more by the time we left We decided to accept the Eisbein, so as not to embarrass our host and further delay the meal. But this was nearly R50 more on the total bill. Either way, we finished our meal, and asked for coffee. THEY DO NOT SERVE COFFEE! But the waiter could offer a Dom Pedro... We declined and left. Doubt they will be seeing us again...
UPDATE: This update is long overdue... We were invited back. This time we went for supper. What a difference! Despite being busy, service was great, as was food. And...
