Guido's Beachfront — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

Guido's failed to impress with their food, a letdown considering the good service and lovely atmosphere. As regular visitors to various Guido's locations in South Africa, we were dissapointed to find their T-Bone and even milkshakes had deteriorated significantly in quality.

Service 👩‍🍳 The level of service at this Guido's is unparalleled compared to other locations. Upon entering the establishment through the front door, we received immediate attention from our waiter, Lwakhe, whose exceptional cheerfulness and hospitality created a warm atmosphere; unfortunately, the food's major inadequacy was the sole reason for withholding a more substantial gratuity.

Food 🍽 Cookies and Cream Milkshake 💰 R49 As someone who rarely reviews milkshakes, this experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. The milkshake was unacceptably watery, as demonstrated in the linked video. It's inexcusable to serve lukewarm milk and market it as a milkshake, especially when thicker options are available.

T-bone with extra cheese and mushroom sauce 💰 R175 (×2) : The meal failed to meet expectations, largely because of the poor meat quality. It was dry and flavorless, with hard tendon pieces making it impossible to eat. My companion's T Bone was similarly unappetizing, even without gristle. On the other hand, the vegetables were tolerable but under-seasoned, and the chips were not crispy. The redeeming feature was the camembert cheese , which is not made by Guidos.

Atmosphere 🌊 With its charming ambiance, Guidos provides the perfect setting, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating areas overlooking the ocean, providing potential for a truly lovely dining experience.

Unlike other reviews we had good friendly service from the waitress. Unfortunately, the pizza I ordered had no flavour at all. This happens from freezing food. The base tasted odd also possibly from freezing. I had pineapple on mine as I always have done because it splits the taste of the meat. Nothing. No flavour. I had 2 slices of my pizza and told the waitress we're not interested. We didnt even take leftovers for the dogs. The manager came past and tasted the pizza and said there is nothing wrong with it. Tastes fine!!. The wife ordered the seafood basket and she ate the chips ( pretty damn good) and the calamari. Rest of it she didn't eat and she's asian and eats everything. That tells you alot. We wanted to pay full price because we don't like freebies but the manager did take the price of...

28 December 2023...As a visitor all the way from Pinetown KZN, after a long day, I decided to have something with the kids at a family restaurant and Guidos Beach front met my expectations. When we had a medical emergency with one of my nieces, we struggled to get the ambulance but by the grace of God, The Restaurant manager offered to take us to St Dominic's Hospital, ensured that we get assistance before leaving. Now this is beyond serving customers, it is Humanity. Thank you so much to the Guidos staff members who looked after my other kids while I left them there until I came back from hospital.
