John Dory's Baywest — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

I'm sorry. I've eaten at John Dory's Baywest many times. The service and food has been getting worse over time. Tonight was the first time in 30 years that I didn't leave at least a 10 percent tip at a restaurant. The wine was good. The service was probably the second worst I've had in 30 years. The main meal, although edible, was not good in any way. The cherry on top was when I received my peppermint crisp tart. The menu says tennis biscuits with caramel, cream, and peppermint crisp. None of which were in the dish. I don't know what biscuits they were, but they weren't tennis biscuits. The "caramel" was instant pudding, the cream was not cream (who knows what it was) and the peppermint crisp was some freaking baking chocolate rubbish with green stuff in-between. I cannot even explain how extremely angry I was after wasting 2hrs of my life eating the rubbish I had to endure. 2hrs for a main meal and pudding. Pathetic. By the time I got my meal, my wife and I had finished a bottle of wine slowly. We waited half an hour between our plates being taken away and getting someones attention to order pudding. On 3/9/19 I ordered a piece of grilled hake and veggies as a take away meal.The veggies were butternut and spinach.While I was consuming my meal at home,I discovered fine pieces of glass in my spinach.I was horrified.The manager didn't even bother to apologise.He just denied it,saying that it is impossible as they don't work with glass in the kitchen.As if they don't work with plates that are breakable in the kitchen.Don't take me for a fool.I will NEVER go there again.UNLESS HE APOLOGISES,this story is going to the newspapers.The manager who was on duty on 10/9/19 had a very bad attitude re this issue.I can assure you I unfortunately therefore cannot and will not recommend your restaurant.Am also writing a review for hellopeter. Schnitzel was very good and I love that you can get both chips and rice with your meal instead of choosing one. All 6 plates came out together, so we could enjoy our meal together (which is rare these days, so I do applaud it). Very friendly service. Loved the coolers (the pink elderflower, kiwi strawberry and kiwi pineapple I've tried are all very nice). Milkybar shake in the past has also been very nice if you're looking for something sweet.

Fish is a bit of a risk (some days it is wonderful and on others there's a lot of "grate"/bones in the fish).

Tuesday Double up special is a great deal. Will definitely be back for more.
