They run a lunch time special where the meal prices are made half. It is always curry and briyani. The flavor of the briyani is amazing. This is the second time that we have ordered from them. Each time we ordered the lamb briyani. First time it was perfect but today the lamb was hard. I assume it is mutton. The lunch time special ends at 4pm and is only available for take aways.
Today 11 March is the fourth time ordering from them. Last time I ordered the chicken breyani, the flavor was nice but the Masala had not been cooked properly. It felt as if they made it hot with lots of chillies. I had terrible tummy pains. Today I ordered the chicken breyani and my partner the lamb. I was given four big pieces of chicken, barely any rice. I would have preferred more rice as the chicken is so damn dry and has no flavor. The flavor of the briyani is not great either. It seems all of these lunch time meals are problematic. I will not be supporting this restaurant again. My bf ate his meal in the evening and it was horrible. He ordered lamb and once again got mutton. The meat was so tough and dry. The breyani tasted disgusting. My bf an I both had problems with our tummy. I don't know how these people are...
Read moreThis is a hidden in Rivonia. We've tried their meals twice now and they never fail to disappoint. An authentic Indian experience from start to finish! You arrive and are seated in a comfy booth with warm heaters in the winter time. The staff and friendly and attentive, the waitress (Dianna) is amazing, she knows everything on the menus, explains what it's made of, as well as recommends the tastiest dishes. The food, oh my soul, the food!! It is literally the best Indian food in the whole of JHB. The menu options are huge, there are no limits to what they have. I tried a crab curry (usually only available on special requests by other restaurants) but not A Taste of India! I had a crab curry and the portion was generous, it was the most delicious crab curry ever, for only R190. The lamb curries are flavorful, tender and delicious. I highly recommend this place, if there was an option for 10000 stars 🌟 I would rate them as they are so...
Read moreWe are vegan and vegetarian for religious and ethical reasons. We got takeaway from Taste of India and spoke with hostess to make sure that everything we ordered would be free of meat, eggs and dairy. Got home, bit into what should have 'potato' samoosa, and got a mouthful of chicken. Called to complain, 50 minutes later they delivered 'corrected' order - bit into last samoosa, another mouthful of chicken. Their solution - to send another portion samoosas. Ridiculous. Our religion and ethics have been compromised. Twice. Not impressed, very poor food service, kitchen management and handling of complaints. How can a restaurant mess up an order like this, twice in a row? How will they ensure it doesn't happen again? I have informed all my vegan/vegetarian social media groups and they have stated they will no...
