RESTAURANT WEEK - What an enjoyable dining experience. Starters: we had the chicken livers which were not too hot and had such a flavourful build up with each bite. Perfectly silky (no piece was chewy at all) it’s not a 10 because of comparison to the calamari. This was a huge shock because it was even better, swear I had half my husband’s starter before I finished mine 😂. Crispy, perfectly cooked so no rubbery texture, the crumbing was delicate and somehow didn’t have an oily taste, nice muted mayo dip to compliment a practically perfect stater.
Mains: I had a unique experience… as soon as my fish and chips arrived, the waiter immediately told me that would correct my portion but they brought this out in the meantime.. I didn’t have to raise the flag! And the food itself? Again! Good crumbing, perfectly flaky fish, that Big Mac-ish sauce was so delicious with the fish. Great main after the rich livers. My husband and officially have updated our best steak, medium, tender, well seasoned, perfect char that didn’t have a burnt flavour. They’re using prime cuts for their special??? Oh okay… I’ll be back, just for that reason.
Dessert: my husband loved the flavours of the caramel laced churros with chocolate dip and ice cream (he didn’t like that it tasted oily but it’s deep fried so I think that’s expected). My tres leches was milky not sweet (I need that as an ending and didn’t touch much of my husband’s desert because it was the sweet option). I re dipped my cake in the milk and it brought back the flavour. The service was a ten from reception, meal pacing, letting me choose my glass for my drink (which I admit is a bit overboard but I like pretty things so I tried my luck), to giving us room to enjoy the night and most important PROFESSIONALISM! What an experience, thank you for your...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Besos restaurant offered a blend of exceptional culinary delights and areas ripe for improvement in the realm of service and comfort. The centerpiece of my meal, a seafood penne pasta, was nothing short of amazing. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of flavors, perfectly marrying the freshness of the seafood with the rich, savory sauce and al dente pasta. It was evident that considerable thought and expertise were poured into creating this dish, showcasing the kitchen's ability to deliver top-tier gastronomic experiences.
However, the service aspect of the restaurant did leave room for enhancement. While the waitstaff struggled to maintain a steady presence, which at times led to longer waits than preferred, it's worth noting that when they did attend to our table, their efforts to go above and beyond were truly commendable. Their dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction, despite the apparent operational hiccups, did shine through in those moments of interaction.
An additional point of feedback for the restaurant's management would be the consideration of installing air conditioning or improving the ventilation system within the dining area. The lack of adequate cooling made the dining experience uncomfortably warm, compelling us to resort to fanning ourselves in an attempt to alleviate the discomfort brought on by the restaurant's internal temperature.
In conclusion, while Besos restaurant excels remarkably in the culinary department, there is a palpable need for improvements in service flow and dining comfort. Addressing these issues would undoubtedly elevate the overall dining experience, making it as impeccable as the cuisine they so...
Read moreJust some feedback on our time at Besos yesterday. We arrived early, around 11:30am, and asked if there was a table for 3 available as we had not booked.
The hostess, surrounded by 3 male colleagues, did not greet us or respond to our question but rather buried her head in, what we later realised, was the entrance table on which the menus were situated. After pulling out the menus she proceeded to have us follow her inside and showed us one of two tables we could sit at on the basis of the restaurant always being booked out over weekends, according to her. She told us we were “lucky” we had arrived early otherwise we would have been turned away had we arrived any later.
Her entire demeanour made us feel like we were intruders and that asking for a table at “her” restaurant was like asking for the impossible. She did not greet us or offer any form of welcome. To say she behaved rudely would be an understatement.
That said, we enjoyed our meal immensely and the rest of the staff were superb: friendly/accommodating/attentive.
We left approximately 1.5 hours later and noticed that the restaurant was nowhere near full capacity. We told the hostess just how unwelcoming/unfriendly/unreasonable she had been and all she managed was a curt “I apologise” in-between listening to us and checking her phone.
If she is the face of Besos then I am sorry to report that you will more than likely be losing customers on account of her sour, dare I say racist, attitude. I give her a solid 0/10 for...
