It was most unpleasant indeed, it was my birthday 🎂 voucher I used, well let's talk about that last, first off we were given what was supposed to be shrimp chips with a sweet chilly sauce the sauce was minimal, the chips were the small broken pieces you find at the bottom of a packet all of them there was not one decent one we called the manager and realised that, that is were the problem came from, he was a mean spirited individual with a stingy misdemeanor who would not give you ice in winter, we asked for a decent bowl of chips which he sent grudgingly with no sauce, we were told it cost to much, we ordered cheesy prawns and fisherman's something or other, as we had decided that we would have a better meal elsewhere which we did in fact do, we went to spur where we were spoilt rotten by staff and manager, they sang to me, gave us such a good time it was a good birthday treat, know let's get back to the meal, when you have a penny pinching manager you will loose client's, we will never go back to that John Dory the food was also very skimpy, the cheesy prawns were the smallest I've ever seen, the three small, thin mingy slices of bread could fit in the hole in my tooth, the other plate of food was supposed to have prawns, mussels and hake, well the hake was in such small flakes we almost never found it at all, there was more sauce than anything else, good luck with that restaurant, we know know why it was not full, because when we got to Spur it was mumming with patrons having fun, we were giving a Spur card, unlike John dory we're there was a commotion about the voucher it got so embarrassing I called head office as I felt sure I was not going to get my birthday 🎂 voucher honoured, what a uncomfortable, hateful experience, that was my birthday 🎂 gift...

Brought my daughter for a birthday celebration dinner on 09 September. The friendly greetings at the door made me feel welcome. But that's where the good service ended and what followed was terrible. Our waitress was a trainee and despite the restaurant being relatively quiet, she was not assisted by anyone with experience. She got our drinks order all wrong and proceeded to argue with me when I pointed this out. Brought the starter and the main meal at the same time despite me asking her to bring the starter first. Our main meal not well heated. She didn't understand the orders and forgot to ask about the sides option. I had to remind her. She forgot to bring the soy sauce with our sushi order and seemed very flustered. Brought the bill with the incorrect items and when asked to correct it, only corrected 1 item. My nightmare didn't end there. When I asked to speak with a manager to correct the bill, the manager rudley asked me to deduct the amount myself because she was too busy with the cash out. I paid the bill and left the restaurant only to be chased down by 3 waiters. My card had been declined because our waitress was not familiar with the device and failed to pick up the non payment. It was quite embarrassing to walk back to the restaurant flanked by the 3 waiters even though I did nothing wrong. The manager was unapologetic and made me feel like a criminal. The customer service was terrible. I will not reccommend this restaurant to anybody and will definitely not be going back there. 21.07.2019 Decided to give JD another try, not sure if this is the same branch that was previously by the Galleria side which wasnt too great. However this branch was much better. We weren't too hungry so just ordered starters. •The Scampi Prawns (Headless Panko-crumbed JD's prawn on a bed of rocket. Served with smoked and Sriracha mayo) the smoked Mayo was NOT good btw. •C&C bombs (Sriracha crab and cream cheese bombs crumbed with tempura crumbs and deep-fried. Topped with smoked mayo and caviar) •Hake Nuggets (Hake fillet fried in seasoned flour, drizzled with sweet chili sauce and sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds) •Prawn Avalanche Sushi - Californian Roll with prawn filling, topped with half a tempura-rolled prawn and spicy mayo sauce •Prawn Volcano - Prawn California rolls, topped with Sriracha crab salad, a Sriracha prawn and coriander.
