Their steak is always a winner. Cooked well and the chef/s listens when you specify well done / medium / blue.
Their seafood pasta is incredibly filling, however they tend to over cook the pasta itself so it's often a lot more soft and tends to fall apart rather than hold it's shape, than it should be (I've asked several times if they could not overcook the past, but they still do it every time).
Sushi, their sushi is incredibly expensive if you're not eating during the "half off" times/days. I wouldn't recommend their sushi at full price, because often times it's clearly been sitting for a bit (the seaweed is a bit chewy and the fish is room temp instead of cold). If a manager is reading this, PLEASE REPLACE YOUR SOYA SAUCE. It's in a Kikkoman bottle, but clearly doesn't taste anything like actual Kikkoman soya sauce. Clearly a cheaper brand that tastes like it's been watered down.
My partner tried their "Vegetarian" dish, the stuffed bell peppers and tomato dish, and was severely disappointed. The tomato was raw, and along with the bell pepper just stuffed with rice, nothing unique or good. The mushrooms where alright, however the grilled vegetables were incredibly oily, more oil than vegetables really. For a dish that's so expensive, it was not only disappointing, but definitely not anywhere the standard of what...
Read moreSo where do i start. My daughter booked a table for 12 people for her birthday. They lost the booking and had to quickly make a plan. Our starters were all good. The prawns were also very good, but a few of us felt they could be a bit hotter and used the supplied peri-peri sauce. The lamb shank was good but the mash was unedible. The seafood curry a bit disappointing. Their big let down was the desserts, the Marie Biscuit/peppermint dessert had none of these items in it. The sorbet was horrible, the Tiramisu just as bad. I have to say my chocolate mousse was the best option. We looked past all of this as we were all having such a good time together. :) Until the bill came. It was over R5000 which is not bad but on top of this was a "large table" addition of R400 - what the ...... we had one waiter. We tipped him 12.5% which was well over R500, if we were advised that this would be added when booking the table, we would have gone elsewhere. What a rip off. We will NEVER go there again. So you gave us a shooter each before the meal, we did not ask for this, some of us do not drink alcohol. If this is what the R400 is for then rather leave it...
Read moreBeen to O’Galito’s many times over the years (since 2012) always for the same thing, after 2pm is the Sushi special and the teenagers like the mini burgers. Quite categorically, the consistency has been astounding, one of the reasons we keep going back. Service is good, attentive without being over baring, look around for your waiter, the teams let one another know, your waiter is there in a jiffy. Kudos to the management team/staff who I assume are constantly working on the service level. Drinks are cold, just the way we like it. Big variety, can cater for almost all likes, not that we can afford some of them 😖 Had several group meals there as well, have not been disappointed yet. Only comment, some of the furniture is looking a little long in the tooth, time for a makeover perhaps? Tried the Spareribs for the 1st time today following feedback from one of the local radio stations rating O’Galito’s ribs as the best in Pretoria. Needless to say, I was very impressed indeed, peeled off the bones easily and melted in the mouth. Fantastic, going to be a dilemma going forward, Sushi or ribs?...
