Wimpy — Restaurant in Gauteng

Though this particular franchise can do with a little more efficient and friendly staff...Wimpy branded coffee remains my all time favorite. On the other hand,I might add that fair pricing to food portion ratio is not well balanced...the prices are pretty high for the portions served. Wimpy brand has been a family favourite for many decades before the market place opened wide with many choices...but sadly through the years, Wimpy hasn't managed to grow the brand beyond it's current status. While it may still be a family favourite in some smaller towns across South Africa,it needs to up seriously up their game if they want to take the lead against brands of more recent years. Wimpy has become more of a "convenient type store" rather than a restaurant of 1st choice. The ever changing market trends are leaning strongly towards a more youth orientated market place,so some serious consideration for conformity should be a key focus moving...

Not impressed at all. The smoking section looked like a pigsty with every single table full of dirty dishes, spilled over ashtrays and bits of rubbish lying on the floor. I had to request the aircon be put on but this took forever to occur (I know smoking is not popular but don't offer the facility of you cannot maintain it). Ordered my eggs "over easy" and they arrived with the albumen still raw, wobbly and "snotty". Asked for no toast but was charged for it anyway. Absolutely no sign of management and I wasn't checked on once during my meal. Only reason for the 2 stars is at least my waitress was friendly and affable. We went to wimpy yesterday morning for a quick breakie. When we got there, we could already see how hectic things were. Customers everywhere and barely any staff due to elections. We were disappointed at first as we waited a while for our food but I must say, the manger (Nkosi I think) and other staff were working and pushing to their limits and I must commend them for pushing through and giving it all they could. Management (owner) should have foreseen this and had temps in. Could have avoided a lot of frustration. Welcome to the manager and his team.
