The only good thing about this place is the view which is five 🌟 ! Beautiful beach ⛱️ right in of the restaurant but that's the only positive. We had fish and calamari combo, fish was tasteless and you could taste it came from frozen and had no flavour, the calamari also tasteless and very rubber like! The spices used just don't do anything plus it was grilled and they also overcooked it. I have had better fish from a take out, such a shame as being so close to the sea but serve fish like that. The waiter seemed to rush us too which was not nice he was friendly but when asked how big the portions were he said we should order the large onion rings and salad 🥗 and when it came it was so much probably could of fed 4 or more. So we ended up giving most of our food the parking attendant cos we actually lost our appetite. He also never came to check up on us. The locals come to drink here and then even then they only order like a big portion of chips to share which also tells u the food is not so good. Come for draught but leave the food we certainly won't be back.

Easter 2021, we stopped here for breakfast. I chose their fishcakes - it was delicious! Hein ordered the bacon, eggs breakfast and it was yum. February 2023 - We found the last table that overlooks the sea. A little bit windy but bearable. The seagulls are so fat! Almost the size of chickens! They nestled in the sand or on top of boat sails. I really wanted a slice of toast, some chips and onion rings – wow – portions of chips and rings were huge!!!!!!!!! But so delicious!!!! Hein ordered the full portion of chicken schnitzel with pepper sauce – it was also big portion with chips, but schnitzel was so tender and juicy. Ordered a peanut butter milkshake and black coffee for Hein. Right next to the café is the NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) - we saw the boat with guys charged out into the water. Later I pointed Hein to a small sailboat entering the bay to anchor …. followed by the rescue boat. Me nosey nosey … apparently the little sailboat turned on its side and they couldn’t manage to right it. Absolutely fantastic spot for any meal!

Food is generally "hit and miss" with ski-boat club but the beer is always fresh, cold and flowing and the staff friendly offering big welcoming smiles. Great to see a larger selection of beer on tap and nice to now be able to support the local brewery. For location, ski-boat club get a 10 out of 5 - you genuinely will not find a better spot within a 500km radius. We've eaten here so many times and the food ranges from average to excellent but never ever bad or disappointing. Over a 2 week holiday in APR we ate here twice, the first time was genuinely the best fish we have ever had but the second time the fish was just average, (Perhaps fresh off the boats Vs frozen ?). Ski-boat club still makes the best fried calamari in Plett though. If you can get a table and even if you have to wait for a table, don't miss out on this establishment. I assure you that you will go back again. But be patient and enjoy the view and the beer as their kitchen is miniscule and there is always a wait for your freshly prepared food.
