Read morethis is some of the best service i've ever received. polite, friendly staff, who took our order accurately and with a confidence i've never really seen before. the ice creams were readt promptly, despite the shop being busy. they appear to have a great system in place. there was a wait to get to the counter, but the queue moved consistently and at a good pace.
the atmosphere is a little icky. despite having a table to sit at outside, it was full and we sort of had to hang around on the steps outside. there is an (ashtray?) for hudsons (the retaurant next door) right outside that was full of cigarette butts. there is zero café feel, which was disappointing.
the ice cream was perfectly acceptable, but no more than that. R161 for three ice creams (two of them small and one medium) is expensive and the ice cream didn't quite live up to the premium price. while there was a chocolate-dipped wafer served on top of the ice creams, the wafer was as cheap as they come, and the same for the ice cream cone wafer. think cheap supermarket cones with no crispiness or flavour. i didn't think it possible to find cones as bland, as even the most basic ice cream stall/truck/stand has far, far better cones.

Read moreDisappointing Experience at Moro Gelato I really wanted to like Moro Gelato, but unfortunately, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and not just from the ice cream. First off, it’s 2025, and yet somehow this place doesn’t allow you to taste any of the flavors before buying. We're expected to blindly choose based on the opinions of the staff who, frankly, don’t seem all that interested in helping when the shop is busy. I get that peak hours can be stressful, but that’s no excuse for the eye-rolls and impatience when you ask a simple question about flavors. If I’m going to spend $6+ on a scoop, I should at least get the chance to know whether it suits my taste buds. On top of that, a small (but frustrating) surprise: the kiddies cup doesn’t come with a wafer. Nowhere was this made clear until after the fact, and again the staff didn’t bother to mention it unless you asked. It’s a tiny detail, but one that feels intentionally sneaky, especially when a wafer has always been part of the gelato experience elsewhere. In short, Moro Gelato needs to work on its customer service, transparency, and general attitude toward the people keeping the doors open. There are too many better, more welcoming gelato spots around to waste time...
