Nestled near the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront stand the striking "Perceiving Freedom" sculptures, a testament to South Africa's journey towards liberation and unity. These statues not only symbolize diversity but also honor the courageous individuals who fought for freedom. As I stood before these powerful sculptures, I felt a profound sense of respect for the sacrifices made by those who came before us. These figures are Nkosi Albert Luthuli, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, former State President FW de Klerk and former President Nelson Mandela. Each figure exudes strength and resilience, embodying the spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity. What struck me most about the "Perceiving Freedom" sculptures is their ability to tell a story—a story of struggle, triumph, and the ongoing quest for equality. They serve as a reminder that freedom is a precious gift, one that must be cherished and defended by each generation.

Moreover, their proximity to the Nelson Mandela Gateway adds another layer of significance. It's a poignant reminder of Nelson Mandela's legacy and the enduring fight for justice and equality in South Africa. So, next time you visit the V&A Waterfront, take a moment to pause and reflect in the presence of these remarkable sculptures. Let them serve as a reminder of the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead on the journey towards true...

Nobel Square pays tribute to South Africa`s four Nobel Peace Prize Laureates: the late Nkosi Albert Luthuli, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, former State President FW de Klerk and former President Nelson Mandela.

The larger-than-life bronze sculptures of the four Laureates were created by internationally acclaimed artist Claudette Schreuders, and they reflect the ambiquities of the search for an ‘African’ indentity in the post-apartheid South Africa.

The fifth sculpture in the square, Peace and Democracy, created by Noria Mabasa, acknowledges the contribution of women and children to the attainment of peace in South Africa.

Join us in honouring these great men, at this place...

My visit to the Noble Square at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town was truly unforgettable. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the highlight was getting to take photos with the statues of the four Nobel Prize winners. The statues were not only impressive but also served as a unique and inspiring backdrop for memorable pictures. The experience left me with a sense of awe and appreciation for the contributions of these exceptional individuals. If you find yourself in Cape Town, a visit to the Noble Square is a must for anyone seeking a blend of cultural enrichment and the opportunity to capture moments surrounded by the legacy of...
