Wimpy — Restaurant in Roodepoort

The food quality is not good. The service is arguably worse.

I'll share more just in case somebody cares...

On most visits the food has been fine, not amazing, but you know - Wimpy food, simple and tasty. On my last visit I complained about a sour taste in the patty or bacon on the burger, I couldn't have more than 2 bites of it. Then they stood there like a mob staring at me as if I'm committing some sort of a crime by not loving the burger. The cashier says "no other customers have complained", the manager says "it's the red patty, there's nothing wrong with it" and she looks like she'd rather chew her own arm off than have to deal with a customer. I had a great time on the toilet last night from the 2 bites I did have. So I'd look at those perfectly fine red patties and that bacon if I were you. On a less serious note a tower of pickles were piled on a 3 square cm drop zone as if it's illegal to separate them from each other, or maybe they were super-glued together and despite the griller's best efforts he couldn't strip them apart. We're not dealing with food geniuses here, this team is not following procedure or sticking to food standards. It's dangerous to have people who don't love making food, working on other people's food. I see the light hearted and meaningless Wimpy blurb in response to 5 star ratings, but complaints aren't addressed. The real issue is that there's no love for the customer on the ground at this branch, that's why this place is sitting on 3.8 and slipping.

When it comes to service, the waiters are indifferent and focused on their own agenda. When trying to get a waiter's attention it takes ages before eye contact is made, and when you do it feels like you're inconveniencing them. The wet wipe I asked for at this last visit never came. In just under 10min I couldn't get the waitress to look so I can ask for the bill, so I walked myself over to the cashier to get it myself. Place wasn't busy. Just pap. There are some decent waiters here that are the exception, but no team work. It's unfortunate for the few good staff, but the experience is mostly pap.

I would be happy to update my review if you guys could turn it around, I get no joy out of leaving a stinky review on someone's feed, but as it stands I'd say #someonecallthehealthinspector. We were at Wimpy Clearwater Mall today with our 4 grandchildren - all wanted to go to Wimpy. On entering, no-one greeted us - I asked a passing waitress if we could find a table and was told yes. We sat by the kiddies corner - the restaurant was not overly busy, but half an hour and no assistance of a waiter is just unacceptable! I called out to 3 waiters who said they would be with us but did not do so. Eventually I called out to a 4th waiter who came to assist. Our order was not brought together and we had to wait for 2 simple items - one which did not even arrive at the table! There was no check in on us through meal - and even though that waiter apologised for lack of service when I complained, it did nothing to our disappointment. NEVER will we go there again or recommend it - it was supposed to be a fun family outing but there was none of that - and no atmosphere in it made it worse. Dont the waiters care? Where is the floor manager? This is the worst ever Wimpy service - the management and waiters should go to Sasolburg Branch for training in hospitality and client attention and service (they are the top notch). Honestly this Clearwater Mall left such a bad impression - not only to us as adults, but to the children too. Do not recommend this branch at all - there are plenty other restaurants in that...

Ordered a father's day breakfast through Mr D got a hair in my husband's breakfast and a kids size waffle instead of the adult size I ordered. The Manager Zodwa a.k.a Mary openly admitted they mistakedly sent me the Tiger special and refused to fix it after trying to convince me it was the standard size I've eaten restaurant before and i can assure you that wasnt an adult size. Just an FYI Tiger deal is R19.90 adult bar one R76.00 what a rip off and not the first time last time was sent the same no ice cream they Refuse to give regionals details and tell you to go back to Mr D except Mr D placed the right order they supplied wrong.
