I usually love Bootlegger and always experience a welcoming, warm atmosphere at other branches. Unfortunately, my recent visit to the Langebaan branch was very different.
When my sister and I arrived, the atmosphere already felt tense. The two ladies behind the counter were kind and professional, but it was clear they were nervous and uncomfortable. The reason became obvious very quickly: the manager on duty - Taz.
Instead of creating a supportive environment, she repeatedly raised her voice across the café with rude, snarky comments directed at staff. This was unprofessional and created an uncomfortable space not only for the employees but also for customers. At one point, my sister even asked if she was having a bad day or if that was her usual way of addressing colleagues. The manager responded that this is “just how she talks to them.”
It was disappointing to see staff being treated this way, and it completely changed the usual Bootlegger vibe of positivity and friendliness. Sadly, we left feeling uneasy instead of refreshed.
