Wonderful Sushi - Chef Pons Asian Kitchen — Restaurant in Sea Point

Wonderful is unfortunately not the Wonderful we all used to love anymore. They have recently changed the management as well as the food items, portions and prices. We were greatly disappointed when we found this out, especially when we saw they took away their 15pc dumpling platter off the menu (meanwhile it’s still on their Uber eats ). We still had a meal there, the food took ages, and half the table got their meal while the rest of the party still waited 10 minutes for their food. The dumplings were unfortunately not the same, we ordered them pan-fried, however they were not very fried nor seasoned well. The spring onion pancakes were thin and tasted artificial. The sushi, I can say was fresh and there were no problems - however I am sad that all their sushi platters/specials have been taken off the menu. The service was also not up to a good standard, and the server forgot multiple items that we ordered. As someone who used to be a consistent regular of Wonderful, on Uber eats and in-store - I can sadly say I’m no longer supporting this...

I enjoyed the food but it wasn't the best sushi I've ever had. It is definitely value for money. They have many specials and the specials are really great. The spring rolls were delicious and my favourite. The service was great. Ruby, my waitress, was sweet and friendly. The owner was also very friendly, not like many of the sushi places you go to where the owners are not very nice. It seems like a place where they have their regulars, and that's most probably where their charm lies. I only gave them a three star based on my food expectations from a sushi...

So so sad. Another place under so called new management. Yes the previous family run Wonderfull was fantastic, great prices great food. Walked in now and found a new menu, new chef new people. Limited menu. Prices have been changed to be more expensive. Have to say I am very disappointed. No more specials l. Just a sad night, have to say they will and in the last 30 min have heard from two other locals that they just went in and walked out as such as mentioned will loose the local support and customer base!!! Is it worth it now... never is the...
