Rockpool Cape Town — Restaurant in Sea Point

Let's start with the good stuff: Great vibey location. Grilled calamari and grilled calamari/hake is good, albeit pricey. Manager recognized one of our group from a previous visit. Came to apologise for his handling of an incident and offered a pizza on the house. A wonderful gesture, which we did not feel to necessary to take up. Apology was unexpected and well appreciated.

Now for the reality check: Service staff are friendly, but slow. On a quite evening the service was beyond slow. Two of our 3 meals eventually turned up, with 3rd probably 15min after rest.

And finally the WTF moment?; Despite the terrace being clearly marked as non-smoking, smokers cassually sit at the first table (as you enter), puffing away and blowing their smoke into restaurant. Other smokers are leaning against the terrace front wall, smoking away and chatting to their friends sitting centimetres away and inside. Again exhaling their smoke right into the restaurant. There is no point in embracing the law, marking your non-smoking zone and not enforcing it. What is a non-smoking fresh air terrace is effectively a pseudo smoking zone.

Clearly the same friendly non-law abiding Manager and owners value their smoking guests more than their non-smoking ones and will contravene the law in process.

I value my health and will rather spend my hard earned money where a light burns brightly, not a faded and yellow flickering Rockpool one resembling a...

I love this place, it has beautiful views, the waiters are friendly, and they are consistent with their food quality and service.

We have been coming here often since we moved to Cape Town.

I am all about the Aperol Spritz life, so when they came out with the Frozen Aperol X, it was the start of a frequent visit for a cocktail and a pizza.

The one suggestion I have for improvement would be better consistency with this cocktails, it often varies in taste, so you often don’t know what you are going to get. It's a hit and miss scenario.

Overall, highly recommend this restaurant, whether you are on holiday looking for something delicious to eat with a pretty view, or locals wanting to grab a bite with their fur babies, or a meetup in a large group this place is great.

Very Nice: La Vie Pizza Med Chicken Skewers Chicken Schnitzel The chips are good, as well as the Nachos.

Weren't a fan: Roast Veggie Pizza -When I went with my mom here, she had this, I thought she was just being her usual fussy self, but I tried and I did agree with her, it wasn't tasty and was dry. It definitely would be better with cheese, I think if ordered with mozzarella, that would probably make it...
