A little meh and disappointing but I think we got them on a bad day. No owner and no manager and just some staff with no will/authority/initiative to rectify the situation. The reviews on here are quite mixed, from excellent to not great so we were hesitant to drive through all the way from Strand but we were both in the mood for lekker Greek food so we decided to favour the good reviews. Sadly, we were disappointed. They had no chicken of any kind in stock and with no owner or manager on duty for the day, no one who could make executive decisions just to procure some more. We were only told of the stock situation once we had taken a while to peruse the menu and had chosen what seemed the most delicious... only to be told there was no chicken in stock, so nothing on the menu which featured chicken. Perhaps about 35% of the menu. If we had been told this before deciding on carefully chosen mains, perhaps the disappointment wouldn't have been so great. If the staff had been more willing to make a plan and less blasé, maybe we would have stayed to try something else. We paid R200 for a glass of wine, a cool drink and an okay sardine starter (two of which were a decent size, the third looked like the runt of the litter...). Then had a lovely walk down main road up to MOJO Market where we enjoyed delicious food and a lovely vibe.
EDIT: Thanks for your reply Dimitri. I DID mention that I thought we got you on a bad day. Your waiter told us you were away and that no manager was on duty the day, so perhaps direct your attitude towards him rather than me....
Read moreMy partner and I have come to visit Cape Town and wanted to get some Greek food. Extremely disappointed to say the least. We are both in the hospitality industry and as much as we are understanding to certain situations, this experience was definitely below average.
To begin, we walked ourselves in, not a warm welcoming at all, we didn’t even get helped after sitting for about 15min before having to flag someone down, one of whom was the manager on duty who was just leaning against the railing at the entrance. Eventually we ordered a small salad, pita bread and some dips to start, we never received our salad up until we were half way through our main meal which we ended up just sending back. Mains were good, not the best but can’t complain.
This isn’t a review to say we want a refund, it’s just being honest and we didn’t tell the manager because he didn’t check on us. The service is shocking which as a business should be reviewed, our poor waitress had 5 tables!!! Which is why we understood the bad service. More staff is definitely needed and a more...
Read moreDespite many positive reviews, my main issue lies not with the service, but with the food itself. Having had high hopes for this place, especially as a lamb enthusiast, I was thrilled to see kleftiko(lamb shank)—one of my favorite Greek dishes—on the menu. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. This was, without a doubt, the worst kleftiko I've ever tasted. The meat was as dry as cardboard, burnt to a crisp on one side, completely devoid of any flavor, and to make matters worse, it was the most expensive item on the menu.
When I voiced my concerns about the dryness of the dish, the person who appeared to be the manager or owner, sitting at the cash register, seemed entirely indifferent. He didn't even bother to offer an apology or any form of acknowledgment. This lack of concern for customer satisfaction only added to my disappointment.
Overall, my experience was profoundly underwhelming, and I will certainly not be returning to Mykonos. It’s disheartening when a place with such potential falls short, both in terms of food quality and...
