This review has been a long time coming - I just had to visit some of the other branches first to make sure it was just not me. For this I will be directly comparing the Sea Point to the Gardens branch. I am very familiar with the menu as I have been enjoying Fat Snactus for years.
Food : below standard and often just quite average in comparison -
Pistol Pete : often portions do not have even avo distribution, the cheese not fully melted or even bacon distribution. Few times when the sauce on top tasted only what I can describe as “mouldy sour”. Often oily.
Shanghai Noon : doughy and the chicken in the dumpling is often dry.
Nacho Grande Cheese w/ Refried Beans or Sloppy Joe beef : Nachos are often soft and the salsa tastes like it was left out on a hot day. The refried beans are saucy and “thin” as well as the beef. Few times the cheese was not fully melted.
Three Amigos : one of the times I sent it back it was server on seed buns - though most of the time it still feels like the sliders are left on a cold shelve before serving. The time is was made with seed bun management did rectify it though on flavour profile it should not have left the kitchen.
Rib Basket : not something that Fat Cactus has ever been famous for but at the Sea Point branch it is extra bad. The sauce tastes watered and the ribs at Fat Cactus usually already have very little meat to it - at the Sea Point branch there is almost no meat on the bone.
Chilli Poppers : Batter is often raw and the cheese stuffing somewhat feels consistent in texture with string cheese. The popper can either be pitted or not - again not consistent.
Staff : one or two absolute legends working at this branch but more than often the wait staff will sit around, be unfriendly or “not care” about the customer. The kind of place where you leave a tip “to improve performance”.
Atmosphere : comparing to other branches the mood is “cold and somber”.
Looking forward to hopefully update this review to be more...

We decided to try Fat Cactus as we often pass by it and it's always bustling. The restaurant offers Mexican cuisine. The interior is charming, and we enjoyed sitting on the terrace. We were welcomed warmly.
Food:
The restaurant has an extensive menu with a wide selection of appetizers and a vast array of Mexican dishes. We opted for tacos, our favourite Mexican dish. There's a good choice of fillings and you can choose between soft or crispy tortillas. The crispy version comes with three tacos per portion, while the soft version has two. We tried both. The crispy tacos had a chicken filling, while the soft ones were filled with fish.
The portions were generous, even bordering on excessive. However, the chicken tacos felt dry, lacking in sauce and a balanced flavour profile. We missed the salt and spice.
The fish tacos were much better, featuring tasty breaded fish and a more balanced flavour. The soft shell held up better too.
Service:
Service was good, though we would have liked the dishes to arrive a bit quicker. The staff themselves were friendly.
Conclusion:
This is a good spot for a casual bite, especially if you're in the area. The food as my opinion is decent, and it's a great place for a...
Read moreAbsolutely loves Gardens venue, decided to try Seapoint on a quiet Tuesday evening. Walked in, there was a table with 8 people, two tables with two people and myself and another table with 1 person. SO NOT BUSY AT ALL. I give the star for the cold beer, ordered pulled pork burger, took 45 minutes to get served, not once saw a waiter except the one that delivered the beer. Food was cold, chips, meat on burger was all delivered at room temperature, and we know its cool this time of year. So after the first bite, i waited, 10 to 15 minutes, tried to get a waiters attention, so decided to eat the cold food. Salt was excessive....so when time to pay the tab, I left R16 as a tip, I feel guilty about this as I know waitstaff depends on tips, but, DARN THEN DESERVE IT. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND OR EVER GO BACK TO...
